Edit to add:
If youve ever said to yourself, Cant I just have a beer and tour the country and someone pay me for it? Well, we have really, really good news for you! This job actually exists and The Smithsonian is currently hiring and we have a link to the application!
The Smithsonian is doing research into American craft beer, so theyre going to hire someone to travel around for the next three years to drink beer, talk to brewers, and file reports. And theyre paying $64,650 a year, plus benefits.
Anyone can apply, but they do say they want someone who has an advanced degree in history, food, brewing, culture, or business.

Snip
"The museum has collections dating back to the late 19th century and early 20th century, but very little from the post-1960s era.
To say the position comes at the right time is an understatement. According to data released by the Brewers Association in March 2016, the number of craft breweries operating in the U.S. grew by 15 percent in 2015 (for a total of 4,269 breweries, the most in American history).
See below for the official job posting. To apply, send a CV, cover letter, and names of three references to: Abigail Karow at NMAHApplications@si.edu. Applications are due Aug. 10.

(80,708 posts)But booze doesn't agree with me anymore, and when I smoke weed - about once every couple years - it's one hit and I'm simply wrecked. My tolerance is so low there's no way in fucking hell I could do a decent job reviewing strains for the Oregonian. Every review would be "HOLY SHIT I'M HIGH"
Sigh, old age.

(9,148 posts)Lord, the 70's were a blast. I crossed paths with so many people and now I have no idea where they all ended up.
Some very good years indeed.
No, I couldn't do either of these jobs for long. Like a couple days maybe..
