Paul Ryan outlines competing vision to Donald Trump at Koch brothers retreat in Colorado Springs

http://www.denverpost.com/2016/08/01/paul-ryan-outlines-competing-vision-to-donald-trump-at-koch-brothers-retreat-in-colorado-springs/

U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan outlined what he suggested is an optimistic, policy-driven platform for the Republican Party at an exclusive retreat for conservative donors Monday, showcasing a competing vision to the darker campaign of Donald Trump.

The Wisconsin lawmaker said Republicans face a “fight for the soul of our party” as he spoke on the final day of a seminar hosted by billionaire brothers Charles and David Koch that drew 400-plus to The Broadmoor Resort in Colorado Springs....

And even though Ryan didn’t mention Trump by name, he made clear the policy proposals diverge from what the party’s presidential nominee is offering.

The original goal, he said, was to “draft with that nominee and then bring this to the country.” But, he added, “we have a different kind of nominee now.”

their primaries. Does the timing have anything to do with this?

Seriously, Trump's populist supporters are rejecting the Republican leadership's and Koch alliance's "ideology" of transfer of wealth and power to an uber class through destruction of progressive government. The elites' fight for the "soul" of the Republican party is just that -- the forces of dark money are trying to keep their gains and hopes for a wealth-controlled future from slipping away.

Btw, I was worried that the Trump campaign might be decompensating too soon, but I'll trust President Obama knows what he is doing when he says these very "concerned" people should renounce him.
