Baltimore cops previously charged in Freddie Gray’s death celebrated at right-wing gala

Many have sharply criticized the six Baltimore cops who caused Freddie Gray’s death by placing the 25-year-old black man handcuffed – but unsecured – in the back of a police van last spring.

But at the right-wing Media Research Center’s annual black tie gala last Thursday, those same officers received standing ovations while honorary speakers downplayed the seriousness of police brutality in the U.S....

“These five men and one woman, all veteran police officers, were now in handcuffs, fighting for their lives, their careers destroyed, bankrupted, humiliated,” she said.

The conservative crowd then broke out in deafening cheers and applause as Borelli called up Baltimore cops Brian Rice, Edward Nero and Garrett Miller, who all remain on administrative duty pending an internal review for their role in Gray’s death.
