How they are held to a higher standard?
How disgusting sexist comments and sexist tactics are used?
Is this an eye opener?
It's not for me... but maybe for some they are finally getting how entrenched sexism and misogyny is in our culture.
For hell, men presidents have cheated on their wives and the women they cheated with were never brought into a debate hall.
But for the woman who was victim of her husbands cheating, she's the one who gets the glorious treatment.
This country is fucked, it has a sexist and misogynistic culture so ingrained that we barely notice it or let it seep into our consciousness unless we really think about it.
What to do?? Think about it.. make a difference, stop denying it would be the first step for many!

(36,223 posts)fuck that shit.
It was sexist, misogynistic bullshit, blaming a woman for her husbands actions, and attempts to shame her for actions of her husband.

(24,592 posts)His entire debate performance was a big guy trying to intimidate the "little woman." I wonder if he envisioned Hillary rushing off the stage in tears! I'm sure his base of neanderthals ate it up, but surely voters with a functioning brain saw it as sexist, misogynistic bullshit.
When my daughter was born in the mid '70s, I expected her to thrive in a very different world than I had. She has had an easier time, yet four decades later I am angry that my teen-aged granddaughters are seeing the first woman soon-to-be President treated not as an equal adversary but as an object that a man feels free to scorn and shame for her husband's alleged misdeeds. She is a brilliant, competent world leader not an f'ing appendage of her husband.

(63,221 posts)Bill Clinton is NOT RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT! Why is this even an issue. What happens in their marriage is between them. Donald Trump IS running for President and how he treats women is very much an issue.
I am so sick of this shit!

(63,220 posts)After the first debate a graphic circulated asking (paraphrased) how people would react if Clinton had shown up wholly unprepared, sniffling like a coke fiend and interrupting her opponent 70 times. It also asked how she'd be treated if she were a serial adulterer who'd had five kids with three separate men.
Possibly the best single-image summary of the playing field that I've seen during this entire cycle.
If someone knows the image and can post a link, please do!

Trump is a direct result of ingrained sexism and misogyny.

(22,671 posts)Donald is right about one thing, he's divided the country into two polar opposites, with few in the middle. I'm ashamed of that other half. I really am.

(4,033 posts)When I saw what the Putin wannabe had done, bringing those four women in and holding a presser with them, I actually got sick to my stomach and had to leave the room. Kudos to CNN for giving it only minimal coverage and not attending the 'press conference'.
I'm to the point that I can barely speak his name because it leaves a foul taste in my mouth. But have we, as a country, sunk so low, have we, at last, have no decency left? That something like 40% of the population think he is 'right for America'?
I seriously doubt that the Republican Party can recover. This is what they have wrought with their decision to obstruct Obama for 6 solid years trying to delegitimize him. The more significant question though is, can we, as a nation ever recover? The fascist haters, aka Deplorables, have been given a voice. And once you legitimize that voice it is awfully difficult to silence it again.

(3,275 posts)Being a woman I have experienced this. I don't think that this country is fucked though. I think that this country is messed up but things can get better. We all have to recognize sexism and keep fighting it in the classroom, the home, the office, the courts, the government, etc. Things may suck but they are better than they used to be. If we keep fighting then they will be better in the future. I expect to live another fifty years or so. In fifty years, I want to look back on a lot of progress that will be made the way my grandmother could. This may not be an eye opener for you or me but it has been for many people. I think that more people are recognizing the misogyny and getting angry about it.
