Another candidate for the deplorables, but with a clean record and no paper trail.

All the many things that are wrong with them are too far and too long ingrained and inbred. Best they can do is change their name, but it'll still be the same ole crap.

Cruz or another one.
They're convinced they lost the last 2 because McCain and Romney weren't "true conservatives" and they're already writing the script that Trump is a one-time fluke. In 2020 they'll finally run their "true conservative." And lose bigly.

17. Democrats should spend these last two weeks pushing the point that gridlock is the cause

of most of the problems we face right now and electing Democrats down ticket is the cure.
It shouldn't bee too hard to take down people with a 9% approval rating.

They will have to refocus but it can be done.

A large portion of the country is dead set against democrats. Trump has shown how ludicrous they can be and still hold on to that vote.

If they refocused on the things they pretend to be focused on they could heal themselves.

To heal they need to stop with the xenophobia and focus on real solutions to issues in america. It will likely take several cycles to undo the damage they have done to themselves but it can happen.

Democrats can easily turn the wrong way and push people back to the GOP. A lot rides on the next four years.

If there's one thing Republicans lack (and there are a lot of them) it's the power of introspection.

They are convinced their destruction of the GOP is a good thing and that they will create something new and better. Completely deluded, even more so then your average Republican.

They think they are now stronger with the destruction of the Establishment. Trump is their herald.

The US is a three party system now. Baggers, GOP and Dems The GOP is fooling itself trying to make believe that the baggers are controllable and under the same umbrella.

14. The problem for the GOP is that a third of their party is loyal only because of ethnic hatred.

They are single issue voters. This is how Trump won the GOP primary with a 3rd of the vote. His campaign was centered on hatred of non-whites. This is why the South went GOP after the Civil Rights movement. It was race. Nothing else.

The GOP can't win without these voters. But they can't reach out to a modern world and keep these ethnic hating voters happy.

This is there dilemma.

15. I don't think they're willing to take either drastic cure available

One is to eliminate the cancer, driving out the tea Klaners and holy rollers as voting blocs by drastically changing their platform to reflect that of the old "decent but wrong" GOP. Another is by eliminating the primary process entirely, going back to the smoke filled rooms in hotels and bypassing their biggest voting blocs. Otherwise, the kingmakers are going to have to realize that the devils Nixon and Reagan made deals with have now taken over and it's time to leave the party and bide their time until they can take over a different party.

The devils also took over first the Federalists and then the Whigs. The Republicans are just about ready to join those two parties in the history books.

I think ultimately the GOP will just fade away and become a true minority party. The party has been corrupted to the core by hatred and there's no going back. IDK what will replace them though.

The GOP is an example of what happens when you give in to the dark side. Hatred, fear and intolerance make up much of their support. A lot of them still don't see anything wrong with the message or attitudes of Trump. They just wish he didn't have all the personal baggage.

A right wing racist and xenophobic one.
A centrist party, DLC'ish party.
A left wing FDR style democratic socialist party.

I'd estimate it will happen by 2024 or so.

What will cause it is the exodus out of GOP.
