... based on what I've seen.

I worked with a very peaceful former-mailman who described being mauled by a German Shepherd while making deliveries, and he showed me the scars.

There was also a German Shepherd owned by the head of HR at one of my jobs. She brought the dog and her little son to work one day. I walked into the office quickly over a "production disaster" happening on the factory floor, and my quick entrance startled the little boy. The dog then snarled at me and appeared ready to pounce until the HR woman grabbed it by the collar. All that dog "knew" about me was that I'd scared the little boy who was standing close to the office door as I entered to retrieve head of production.

Sorry to offer two examples that both involved German Shepherds. I have nothing against that breed. I grew up with one as a kid and it was very loyal and loving to me. A stranger? Who knows what it might've done?
