And -- how does he know that?

It should be quite obvious by now that Assange works for Russia and Trump does as well.

(9,956 posts)...shouldn't the FBI and justice dept. be investigating? If Hillary said that, all Hell would break loose!

(20,998 posts)...More Hillary stuff, eh?
What about the Trump stuff? Certainly he is just as "target-rich" as Secretary Clinton, perhaps even more so. So where is the Trump dump?
According to the WikiLeaks website, its goal is "to bring important news and information to the public... One of our most important activities is to publish original source material alongside our news stories so readers and historians alike can see evidence of the truth."
So where is the truth on Trump? Aren't you equal opportunity leakers? Or do you also have your own agenda, masquerading as pursuing truth? Are the hits of Donald Trump not on your playlist? And by the way, who puts together your playlist?
What is your relationship with Putin, Russia and Breitbart?

(9,245 posts)How - ummm --- "odd" that Wikileaks ONLY goes after HRC and DNC but nothing on RNC or Trump. They work for the Russian gov't. Stone is the go-between. It's not rocket science.
Meanwhile, FBI is all over not-Hillary's email and some old scandal from 15 years ago that they only investigated in the first place based on some RWNJ's freaking kook book.
Ugh.

He is working for himself. He is only leaking what he is given. That is the purpose of Wikileaks. They disseminate information that was meant for the eyes of the privileged elites only.
I was happy that they released the Manning Collateral Murder video.
And...
I have always overlooked his arrogant attitude. Because its not about his personality, its about what he is doing for freedom of information. And I still think the rape charges are bogus as the women themselves and the original prosecutor wasn't even interested in pursuing it.
But...
I have lost all respect for him now. Yes, on the surface, one can say he is just fulfilling his mandate and releasing information that would have been sealed off from the public. Speaking truth to power and all that. But he is not stupid. He knows the effect this will have on the American election. He knows he is empowering a fascist asshole, and risking a Trump victory. He wants to stay relevant, I understand, but there should be a modicum of responsibility shown along with that. He is being used by Putin and Trump and he seems blithely ok with that, using the cover that he can't NOT release it because the public has a right etc..while knowing full well the damage he is causing.

(19,985 posts)he would accept money from the highest bidder (Russia) for information he may have and they may want when he may have no other real source of income being confined to an embassy for years? I wouldn't call the suggestion "over the top."
LiberalLovinLug
(14,174 posts)That would ruin the brand.
Not only that but it would set them up for legal action against. This way, like peer to peer sharing, they are not the ones copying information, they just "share" it.
Others do the hacking or whistleblowing etc. and provide Wikileaks with the private information they have retrieved (ie. Edward Snowdon) Wikileaks is just the leaker, the messenger of that information.
Bill Mahr had on Micheal Moore last show and he describes Assange as more of an anarchist. He doesn't care if it hurts the corporate elites on the right or the left. And he obviously has his reservations about Hillary Clinton. I'm sure there is no love lost on the Democratic party and their main man Obama who represents a huge threat to him. But thats his decision to release whatever he releases. The Kremlin isn't ordering him to, nor do they have to pay him to, he and Wikileaks are doing it because its in their interest to do so.
I think he's wrong on this. Just like the JPRs. I don't think a melt down of society for maybe decades once it starts to fall, will guarantee a utopian paradise from out the other end rising from the ashes. Too much damage could be done, irreversible damage, setting it up so that it will take even longer to reach any kind of paradise. I'm a risk taker but not a fool. And Assange is acting like a bratty fool by helping Trump.
CousinIT
(9,245 posts)He works (directly or indirectly) for Russia. And likely he must in order to continue living in their embassy.

Very telling that ALL OF HIS INFORMATION DUMPS BENEFIT TRUMP. Assange has an agenda: his own.
