What History Will Say

I have not posted on DU in a month. Seeing what happened in the 2016 election and Trump's nightmare cabinet picks, I really believe it's over folks: the Corporate, Fascist take over of America is complete.

When they will pinpoint the moment when America lost its democracy it will be the day President Clinton signed the bill that deregulated the telecommunications industry. Had it not been for such a pro-corporate media and the rise of Goebbelsvison (Faux "News&quot , the 2000 election result may have been very different and the inception of unregulated, hackable voting machines may not have taken over the American electoral process.

I wonder if Mr. Clinton see the irony of his action causing the creation of Donald Trump and the end of America as we know it?

All the racism, sexism, hate, greed, are his fault?

Wow. I thought we had gotten past that. We are blaming Obama now. Or, Hillary.

6. You don't think deregulating the telecommunications industry harmed this country?

Fox News is what gets so many dumb asses to vote against their own interests and supports a phony "populist" billionaire like Trump. CNN and MSNBC are much better, so yes, I am blaming Republican lite, Bill Clinton, because deregulating Telecomminications because it was a major turning point of our fragile democracy.

By the way, how did you link President Obama and Hillary to what I said?

5. Some of Clinton's policies didn't help, but let's be honest.

America never really had a democracy to lose, but we were making real progress, however bloody, towards equality and expanded voting rights. I was there in the 60's and early 70's when it seemed nothing would stop us, but a few assassinations, police riots and prison sentences slowed the movements. But, what really put on the brakes was the Lewis Powell memorandum in 1972. That's when wealthy conservative Americans took back the reigns of power and the media.

Hate radio and Rush Limbaugh occurred almost overnight.

Clinton had nothing to do with it. Hate radio was in the forefront of trying to oust him.

Sometimes I wonder why this place is called the DEMOCRATIC Underground.

This is no time to blame each other. We need to work together
