Russian Agents Are Not Behind Every Piece of Fake News You See

Fortune: ... One of the themes that has emerged during the controversy over “fake news” and its role in the election of Donald Trump is the idea that Russian agents of various kinds helped hack the process by fueling this barrage of false news. But is that really true?
In a recent story, the Washington Post says that this is definitely the case, based on information provided by two groups of what the paper calls “independent researchers.” But the case starts to come apart at the seams the more you look at it. ...

Washington Post is using a list from a shadowy group called PropOrNot, who seems to mark even the U.S. Constitution as propaganda, along with several legitimate left-wing sites such as CounterPunch and Truth Out!

for defamation for printing that trash. I hope many of the other legit sites smeared by them join in the lawsuit and WaPo takes a Rolling Stone type hit.

- but I would like to see some better investigations than WaPo citing some really bogus "research". I am sure you can find some, but I do not think it will be Putin controlled - Russia has never been very good at propaganda .

In Denmark we have good research about other countries spreading lies in our news papers, but most of it is back from the Cold Warf. The Russians was known for a large amount of quite unsuccessful cover-organizations. CIA was better at the undercover work, especially through their Congress for Cultural Freedom. CIA used art exhibitions, liberal magazines, youth organization and paid journalists to spread their fake news and propaganda. Other actors like China and Germany are also still very actively doing propaganda.

There is nothing new in this. Also the tendency of overblown accusations making Russia the absolute master of this. USA has always been the worlds best in influencing, marketing and selling. That is why your PR companies is also the biggest ones in my country. PR professionals from Russia for a Western marketplace is normally a very bad match.

But you and me and Russia could learn from those small Romanian entrepreneurs. They are the ones being really succesful in fake news, earning millions from it. I would like to have one of those to help out on how to win opinions and readers - after teaching him a lot about ethics!

...a.k.a. shovelling horseshit. The Rooskies like Trump: just joyriding in the vehicle that conservatives have spent a lifetime building.
