The most significant successful covert operation in history?

Installing a government in the world's most powerful nation has got to rank up there on the list of major covert operations in history. Certainly post-WW2. Sure, the US and USSR installed governments during the cold war, but those were mostly small countries. This is the USA.

Now Putin gets Crimea, lifted sanctions, and an implicit green light anywhere else he wants to invade. Quite the coup.

We live in interesting times.

The information was pretty close to the surface the whole time. It might have been acted upon if not for the 30 year campaign of misinformation being pushed on the American electorate.
