Assuming the GOP is actually going to scrub the Affordable Healthcare Act on day one, eliminate Social Security thereafter, drop corporate tax rates, and plunge us into even greater deficits, how long will it take for the news meme to change into "It's Trump's fault."?
He's already refused to:
1.prosecute Hillary
2. Build the wall
3. deport aliens
4. replace manufacturing/coal/iron/lumber jobs
5. get lobbyists out of government
and lots more that come to mind.
When will the meme be, "He turned into just another crooked politician?"
I say, one year.

They'll never turn on him. Because they have no idea what's going on except on reality TV.

they'll be as miserable as ever, so they'll take a handy scapegoat over nothing at all
why would he throw them all the cookies at once when he can hand them out as needed to get support?

Just as Reagan was good at selling himself even as his policies made life worse fro most Americans.

(58,785 posts)i.e., those who said they felt he was doing a good job, to drop below 30%. At the very end, it was down to an unheard-of 15% or so. Itm, almost everything will be the Democrats' fault.
But, for the OP, <1 year until Trump is removed from office, though not by the electorate.

It has to hit them where they live because they
have too much ignorance and bias to be able
to see the truth about Trump until it directly
affects them.
Of course, this is just a sad shame for all of us
because they're taking us down with them.

gratuitous
(82,849 posts)But as a group, I see the Trump supporters refusing to admit that they were duped in any way, that they actually believed what Trump was promising them, or that they are disappointed by his string of broken promises. There will be mind-boggling rationalizations and justifications for all of it, as well as a steady stream of scapegoat candidates supplied by Fox News. Never read the comments, but if you traipse through the comments on any news story about a broken promise, there are a scabillion excuses as well as outright denial that Trump ever made a promise; that if he made a promise he hasn't broken it yet; that if he made a promise and broke it that it doesn't matter anyway; that if he made a promise, broke it, and it mattered, then Obama or Clinton or somebody else did something worse, so it's a good thing that Trump broke a very important promise.

(20,747 posts)Actually, domestic happiness and dow surges tend to work in opposition: What's good for management is never good for labor.
rgbecker
(4,834 posts)That helps those who are working for or providing services to the investor class. When the market tanks, investors stop putting money into the market, stop spending money and unemployment increases as new jobs dry up and people start competing with each other for the old jobs.
Meanwhile, those just getting by barely affording groceries and rents won't be affected by a raising dow, but will certainly be affected when it falls, as it did in 2008. I'll be watching the Dow, because when 2008 repeats itself, that's when Trump voters are going to show up in the streets.
