Don't Let The Republicans Trick You into Attacking Democrats

Chuck Schumer railed at the Trump administration today, yet some have attacked him for not attacking McConnell and the rest of the Republicans in the Senate. He will have to work with those people. Bill and Hillary Clinton will attend the Inauguration, as tradition suggests they do. Some are objecting to that and criticizing them, too.

Don't fall for this. Prominent Democrats are setting up the stage for the next four years. Sometimes, that means being diplomatic and acting in traditional ways. That's all. The minority leader in the Senate has to look like he's going to diplomatically work with the majority. But, he also attacked Trump Doctrine on the floor of the Senate. Bill and Hillary will be there at the Inauguration, but they'll be singing a different song later. They're supporting the institution, not Trump.

We need to be careful about criticizing Democratic politicians for displaying a front that honors traditions. DC is full of traditions, and honoring them is important, like it or not.

Instead, let's watch these people's actions going forward. It's what they do with substance that matters, not tradition and pomp and circumstance. Let's not rush to attack Democrats for honoring traditions.

Thanks for reading.

and a lot of people just don't know where it is, which is why a lot of alerts around here are ridiculous.

I'm notgoing to pretend everything is peachy in the party because it is clearly not. Unless the Democrats in the halls of party power answer the clue phone and make some serious changes in the next 2 years, welcome to the new normal.

you're actually attacking them and you don't realize it. Now that you realize you're attacking them, realize also that you are not attacking them because you want them to be more progressive, you are attacking them because you have been tricked by Republicans into attacking them. (Jury, please read carefully and don't be tricked by Republicans into attacking me by thinking I'm attacking Warpy.)

Trump called for Hillary to GO TO JAIL. That is not tradition. That is not normal. That is not in his power. That is what tinpot dictators in third world countries do during elections. He is asking for Flynn who promoted conspiracy theories that Hillary is a pedophile-yes a pedophile. ( I actually got that as answer to one of my tweets-so big deal that Putin helped Trump-Hillary is a pedophile-people believe these horrors and Trump and his people did that to her) That is not normal. That is not acceptable. Pretending that Trump is fit for office does humanity a disservice. I think you and the Clintons are dead wrong.

Schumer and Clinton are upholding them--they are not caving. They know what is at stake.

Denying myself the opportunity to criticize my own house means I'm willfully blind, just plain half-witted, or a partisan hack. That may or may not apply to anyone else (yet I think it does), but it certainly applies to me.

Just like with President Obama, some Democrats (or those who claim to be) do nothing but knock down our leaders. Nothing is ever good enough for them.

For 8 years, we were treated to "why doesn't President Obama use the bully pulpit!!!" Then he'd give an amazing speech. The response would be "talk is cheap" or "too little too late."

I am heartily sick of the constantly moving goalposts and the lack of reality WRT politics. Schumer wasn't going to punch out McConnell (although :popcorn .

we just left a season of family traditions.
Ours were changed by the failing health of my mom and a lot didn't get done.
Unfortunately we now enter a season of a man with no sense on tradition.
He has blown off every tradition but yet expects traditional respectful response
from everyone else.
I don't see that happening, there are people out there as angry or madder than us (if possible)...
I think bad things are going to happen, but then again I didn't see the maggots
election coming either.....so what do i know....
