Is the next question who colluded with the Russians to undermine our election? Pootey had help.

We all know in our hearts who. We can see suspicious behavior on our teevee. We know who has parroted Pooty talking points. How far back did it go? Was Benghazi a Russian hit job? Was all of the GrOPer obstruction of President Obama a Russian hit job? How many of the GrOPers turned their back on their country?

Why is no one taking that step? Who's job is it to investigate? The FBI?- compromised. Congress- the GrOPers are compromised. The MEdia? parts of it are compromised and tying itself in knots to get access.

There must be an independent investigation. We need proof, and we need prosecution. Don't let this be like the 2008 crash when no one was held responsible. Nothing will be done and it will happen again and again and again.

I have said a million times in the last 17 years, you can't know where you are going until you know where you have been.

but I am afraid the lunatics have sufficiently taken over the asylum and I don't know if we will have time to do that and before the biosphere crashes. I have no answers and i am still trying to get out of bewilderment enough to do something, I don't want to see the shock doctrine come full circle here though I think it may be too late.

One example of MANY in this country...

Jimmy Carter won the white Evangelical Christian vote in 1976, after the civil rights laws of the 60's and Roe v. Wade in 1973.

Then he and other Democrats proposed removal of tax exemptions for churches / religious schools that didn't have enough racial integration.

If racism/segregation was the main issue, then why did many of them support civil rights in the 60's?

Removal of their tax exempt status surely seemed like a "slippery slope" to them, just like gun nuts lose their minds if sensible gun regulations are proposed. The religious leaders and preachers turned against the Democrats, and their congregations followed suit.

As I was conducting research in Weyrich’s papers at the University of Wyoming, the correspondence surrounding the 1978 election fairly crackled with excitement. Finally, Weyrich had stumbled on the issue—abortion—that would motivate politically conservative evangelical voters. As the 1980 presidential election approached, Weyrich and leaders of the Religious Right hammered away at the abortion issue in an attempt to galvanize evangelical voters against Carter in favor of the Republican nominee, Ronald Reagan.

But therein lies yet another paradox. Whereas Reagan, as governor of California in 1967, had signed into law the most liberal abortion bill in the nation, Carter had a long history of opposition to abortion and had sought, both as governor and president, to limit its incidence. Nevertheless, leaders of the Religious Right, seeking a pretext to oust a fellow evangelical, one they regarded as too liberal, decided that Carter’s refusal to seek a constitutional amendment was an unpardonable sin.

Jimmy Carter’s defeat in 1980 not only deprived him of a second term and ended his political career, it signaled the demise of progressive evangelicalism on the national scene. Evangelical voters traded Carter’s military restraint and attention to the plight of the poor, women and minorities for a candidate who, whatever his other qualities, advocated military swagger, favored tax cuts for the affluent, ridiculed welfare recipients and suggested that homelessness was a choice. Reagan had opposed both the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act as well as the proposed Equal Rights Amendment to the Constitution, whereas Carter regarded his failure to secure ratification of the ERA among the bitterest disappointments of his presidency.

...for sharing. The "liberal media" helped hang Carter, too... they started a special nightly TV show counting the days hostages were being held in Iran. It, and Ted Koppel, were so successful, ABC kept the show as "Nightline". Carter was essentially against abortion - but did not think an amendment was in anyone's best interests. Reagan wouldn't have favored one, either. He was basically pro-choice and used the issue to build a base of dedicated voters. These so-called "evangelicals" now favor Trump. Money is the biggest God of all.

Nightly news wasn't enough. They decided to add on "Nightline" to cover the hostage situation even more!

The so-called "prosperity gospel" seems to be a growing trend too.
