Something interesting I noticed in the audience, during Meryl Streep's speech

I'm pretty inept at this screen shot capturing but while the camera was on Mel Gibson and Vince Vaughn, I couldn't help but focus on their facial expressions. During the few seconds he camera was on them, Mel's face went through some subtle changes, looking like he was really absorbing what Meryl was saying. Vaughn, on the other hand, just continued to glare. At least that's my take on his facial expression.

Maybe I'm reading too much into such a brief bit of film, but if you go to the video and watch that few seconds, towards the very end, maybe you will see the same thing. Maybe not. I just found it fascinating.

Mel Gibson we all know about. Now, I've read testimonials from his friends, including many liberals, who swear he doesn't have a bigoted bone in his body. I don't believe that for a second. You don't say the things he said, drunk or sober, unless you're a bigoted jerk.

you never know when one of these batshit insane nominations is going to backfire on His Orangeness.
there's got to be at least one in that batch of political vandals

Stallone's countable among the "rich Hollywood elite", and as we've seen many times, actors' viewpoints are not necessarily apparent from the roles they play in movies. he knows and works with artists of various stripes. he might have a very refined, generous sensibility when it comes to the arts.

but probably not.

That grab happens at 5:45, right after Meryl starts to recount something Tommy Lee Jones said to her. Not defending wingnuts, but I don't think you can read too much into the expressions.

It almost looks like Gibson is processing what he's hearing, but not Vaughn. I can't help but wonder if he's one of those who blames his less than 'hot' career on people not hiring him because of his politics. I've seen his recent IMDB activity, which is pretty anemic. Could be his choice. Could be the casting director's.

But then, again, what I saw and re-watched several times just struck me as very interesting but is still just my impression.

That Gibson pricked up his ears at the mention of Tommy Lee Jones. The other guy, I don't know.

Even though it's 'live' footage, we don't know exactly how or if it was edited.

I do the same face as Gibson, when I'm struggling to hear something. She had commented on it while we were watching.

Hold one finger up to the good ear, and open my mouth (like that helps somehow), and slightly cock my head to the side.

And that speaks greatly about him. He is a 2 bit actor. But more importantly and clearly not even a nice human being.

He isn't worthy of being a part of Hollywood. I would say boycott him but there's not much to boycott. And honestly, I never watched his work anyways because of its mediocrity.
