Founded by the US president elect Donald Trump, Trump Vodka is now only sold in Israel
The Times of Israel reports that the Chief Rabbinate of Israel the supreme authority for Judaism in the country ordered a batch of Trump Vodka to be pulled from supermarket shelves, claiming the bottles had been imported without proper kosher licensing.
While the bottles bear the labels of both the Badatz Igud Rabbonim and Israeli Chief Rabbinate, they did not receive the stamp of the Rabbinates import division.
In order to be deemed kosher, products imported into Israel must bear the label of the Israeli Chief Rabbinates import unit, which communicates between foreign and domestic kashrut authorities.
Launched in 2005, Trump Vodka was discontinued in the US six years later following poor sales. The brand, which was marketed with the slogan Success Distilled, is now only sold in Israel.
In 2015, the Chief Rabbinate of Israel claimed that vast quantities of the worlds biggest Scotch brand, Johnnie Walker, were not certified as kosher and so revoked the kosher certification of the brands major Israeli importer.

There's nothing in distilled spirits that would be considered tref.

(25,939 posts)Knowing how cheap tRump is, he may have used casks which previously contained wine, violating kosher law. Barring that, he may have been too cheap to properly document that the casks didn't contain anything else. Cost of quality, Cheeto Benito!

(6,395 posts)There are a number of "certification" organizations. Some will certify you the minute you pay the fee, others demand to inspect the facilities on a regular basis....but after you pay for the trip, fee's etc.
In a number of cases, the only difference between the meat at your local supermarket vs. a kosher one is just the rabbi blessing. But both went down the same processing line.
I consider grass fed, free range and humanely slaughtered animals kosher than one that was penned up, hit with hormones, etc. but was "rabbi blessed".
