Anyone who attacks @repjohnlewis loses legitimacy in my eyes, especially someone who made such a craven effort to delegitmize @BarackObama

(7,299 posts)Presiden't Obama's legitimacy was questioned totally w/o provocation. John Lewis was being provocative. I happen to agree with him but he fired a fastball high and inside on Trump. He can handle the return fire.

Lewis pointed out what the evidence is saying and Trump can't handle it so he goes off like the screaming petulant child that he is.
How about Trump try and prove Lewis wrong?
Hint: He can't....

(52 posts)Canadian drugs are not safe?? what a lame excuse most are FDA approved. I don't see Canadians complaining paying in many cases 75% less than we do.
Sadly when you think you find an "honest politician"they are just another phony.
Lost all respect for this dude Cory Booker.

Plenty of other Democrats received money from big pharma. Some voted for the amendment, and others voted against it. (oh, and Bernie received almost as much as Booker...)
The largest beneficiary of campaign donations from the pharmaceutical voted against it, and the second and third largest beneficiaries voted for it.

(3,284 posts)The DU Neolib critics say we old-timers/New Dealers/Berners will only settle for "purity".
That mis-conception is a direct parallel to Schumer's insistence that the Democratic Party's problems
are merety about messaging.
Very clearly, in the case of Cory Booker and all the Democrats who voted against the prescription
drug measure it's not about "purity".
It's about,
who do they actually represent?

(108,980 posts)Patty Murray, for example, supports the general idea -- however there is no regulation in Canada right now of drugs that pass through Canada from one country to another. So what is to stop makers of fake drugs from shipping them to the US via Canada? It is already happening, and this plan would just make it worse.
The problem is that Canada's population is tiny compared to ours. So why does anyone think American drug companies would ship ten times more product to Canada then they have been, just so that the same product could be reimported to the US at much lower prices? The answer is that they wouldn't. So who would step in to fill the gap? Producers from outside Canada who aren't regulated and don't have Canadian safety standards.
What we need is to do the same thing that Canada and every other civilized country has done: have our government negotiate drug prices with the manufacturer. That makes more sense than trying to piggyback onto a system that is 1/10th the size of ours.

Renew Deal
(81,861 posts)And the symbolic resolution with no chance of passing failed.
By the way, Bernie didn't show up for the gun filibuster.
"Murphy was joined over the course over the nearly 15-hour-long filibuster by 38 of his 45 fellow Senate Democrats. Some, including Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut and Cory Booker of New Jersey, stood with Murphy for hours.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Murphy_gun_control_filibuster
More than 40 senators, including two Republicans, joined Connecticut Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy's filibuster, which began shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday morning and lasted past midnight.
But Sanders, who is home in Burlington, Vermont, to address his supporters about his post-presidential primary plans, was not among them.

(34,648 posts)Seems to me that calling Trump out should be more important than hating on Corey. Especially when Trump is being racist as fuck and a black Senator challenges him. The only folks I usually see attacking black folks for challenging a racist fucker for disrespecting a civil rights legend are racists themselves. I certainly would not be caught dead tarnishing Corey's legacy while he is in the process of dressing down the enemy. But that's just me. Some people dont give a damn how bad they look. What do you think?

(34,648 posts)You are mad because he did not vote the way Bernie wanted. Time to move on. He should have gotten the support of enough members and reached out to see what changes to the amendment would have gotten their support. Just expecting everybody to do what you want gets nothing done.
