One result John Lewis achieved as an activist was the Fair Housing Act of 1968, targeting racist landlords. The one Trump was sued under. https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/820255947956383744

By the way, John Lewis represents a majority-black district where 88% of adults have high school diplomas and 41% have college degrees.*******

Tell it John! Best Not to come for John Lewis unless he sends for you.

Did Donald Trump Just Come for John Lewis During MLK Weekend?

As if he’s physically addicted to controversy (or attention), President-elect Donald Trump attacked civil rights icon John Lewis during the Martin Luther King Day weekend. And the fallout has exploded all over social media.

The brouhaha started yesterday when Rep. Lewis, who actually organized with Dr. King and was brutally beaten by police in Selma, Ala., in 1965 while marching for black humanity, stated during an NBC News interview that he does not see Trump’s presidency as “a legitimate president” and will not be attending his inauguration.

President-elect Donald Trump began Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend by attacking Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) on Twitter, accusing the civil rights icon of being “all talk, talk, talk — no action or results. Sad!”

Trump’s attack on Lewis was met with immediate outrage, as his fellow lawmakers quickly pointed to Lewis’ record as a leader of the civil rights movement and criticized Trump for ignorance of just how much Lewis has
done — both in speech and action — in service of progress in America

...Joy Reid was discussing how John Lewis wanted to give a more reactionary speech; blaming Kennedy for inaction, etc, and MLK (and other organizers) convinced the young man to tone it down a bit; Lewis aligned more with the 'direct action' wing of the movement.

Joy described him as the 'black lives matter' activist of his time.
