Paralegal moves to DC, throws Hail Mary pass in effort to stop inauguration.

I love him for trying this, even though I know his chances of success are probably nil.

TUESDAY is the day Sablosky expects to learn whether the Appeals Court will hear his lawsuit.

http://www.alternet.org/election-2016/activist-files-federal-suit-declare-electoral-college-unconstitutional-under-slavery

A series of emergency motions filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington on Thursday seek to postpone the presidential inauguration by arguing that the Electoral College is unconstitutional under the post-Civil War amendments that ended slavery and gave blacks and women the right to vote.

The lawsuit contends the Electoral College is unconstitutional—and Trump's presidency illegitimate—because it was part of a system that was created to protect slavery and give slave-owning states more representatives in Congress and in choosing the president (as each state has as many electors as members of Congress). The suit argues this slave-era holdover is unconstitutionally harming the voting rights of people who do not live in the rural states overrepresented in the Electoral College, as evidenced by the fact that, for the second time in 16 years, the national popular vote winner has not been elected president.

The suit was filed by Bret Sablosky, a paralegal who moved from Chicago to Washington to satisfy federal court filing requirements. He is hoping lower-ranking judges on the court, mostly appointed by President Obama, will be receptive to the historic nature of the case and will order the inauguration postponed while the suit is heard.

“It’s worth postponing the inauguration for four months because this is one of the most important trials that will take place in the United States—whether the popular vote is the only constitutional method to elect the president,” he said. “I’ve spent months putting this case together. I have been trying to get rid of the Electoral College for 12 years.”

STILL. It's fighting back! It's making a stand. It's taking a stand. It's saying "ENOUGH!" It's fighting in every conceivable way, from every and any angle possible. The other side sure doesn't hesitate. They find every imaginable way to screw things up and block and interfere and otherwise ruin and wreck. Why can't we do that?

Seriously. Why can't we do that?

Why do we have to be nice?

Nice gets you rolled.

Nice gets you played like a cheap violin.

I don't wanna be nice anymore.

After 2000 and 2016, the electoral college has proven itself to be anti democratic. Like any good social movement, this will not change overnight and Sablosky is aware of this.
If he were able to get the inauguration delayed then all well and good.

Excellent lawsuit. Here's supporting evidence. There's been lots of deceptive nonsense about the Electoral C. since the election, especially that it protects the rest of the country from having CA and NY always choose the president. Actually, the EC doesn't function rationally or predictably. To illustrate the capriciousness of the Electoral College map, the Tech Blog people at the Washington Post used a computer program to redraw the electoral map without altering any county lines. Using 2016's presidential vote count, transferring Lake County, Illinois across the border to Wisconsin turns Wisconsin blue without changing the outcome in Illinois. Transferring Florida’s Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa counties across the border into Alabama, turns Florida blue. Neither minor annexation would have altered regional maps a wit. With this very slight change in the borders of just two states and the exact same number of votes that were cast in the exact same locations in this presidential election, Hillary Clinton, in addition to winning the popular vote by over 2.87 million votes, would have won the Electoral College by two votes.
