I don't have a sense of how long it will take for things to deteriorate and then for 'voters' to make connections about who to blame. AND for Dem 'party' to plan good attacks.

and Trump is already widely unpopular. Currently the economy is doing pretty good and the unemployment rate is below 5%. I don't see that holding. Most economists are saying we are overdue for a recession regardless of what Trump does. I think a shit load of people who didn't come out to vote and are regretting it will come out during the midterms. I think moderate Republicans will want to hold Trump in check as well. I could be wrong but I think Trump getting in has awoken a sleeping giant.

have to defend vs theirs (28:5). Hard to see how we don't stay in the minority; surely hope we can keep filibuster!

I voted the first option, because it is entirely possible. If you look at the "Republican Revolution" of 1984, they made bigger gains than we need to make in 2018. Their hold on power is even more tenuous. We can do it, folks!

Our leaders sat on their asses while the GOP caged and purged our voters. They allowed ALEC to raid the states. And eligible voters sat on their vote. Midterm turnout is ALWAYS lower.

The GOP is defending only 8 Senate seats.

oh, and there are 2 independent seats that caucus with the Dems that are up, too.

So our situation will probably get worse in the Senate. The incoming justice department will not prosecute voter suppression.

It's just dominoes, now. The only thing that will stop that tumbling is if 20% of trump voters flip in 2018. They won't.

Are the ones that were up in 2006. When we swept the Senate and House in the midst of an scandal ridden unpopular president and high profile corruption scandals of members of the majority party. Some of that is already starting at an exponential pace.

The average rate of re election for an incumbent is in the 90% range. Especially for the opposition party in a midterm. I promise you the Republicans wil have the tougher shot holding on to control.

Agreed.

A tRumputin DOJ will further aid the GOP in taking voting rights AWAY from Democrats all over this country where they can. Secondly, I don't for ONE minute think that a tRumputin DOJ will step in if the ruskies are accused of cyber-hacking or interfering into our elections AGAIN by Democrats. What if Comey is still head of the FBI? Who knows what the ruskies have on HIM in their dossier of horrors. HOW can you win seats in congress and senate when there will probably be more ALLOWED cyber-hacking, voter suppression, voter disenfranchisement, cross-checking and purging of voter rolls in Dem strongholds on steroids. The ruskies of course have something on the thuglicans as well, and even if they want to impeach tRumputin will the ruskies tell the GOP "Hey, you wanna see some very "interesting" information from YOUR older emails, and some OTHER "interesting" things we came across as well?

How do we know that the ruskies won't be able to "invade" voter rolls/voting machines in deep blue states in 2018 as well? Like tRumputin would stop the ruskies, especially if his bestie/puppet master's holding his taxes and God knows what else over his orange, lacquered, empty head.

and Pence ascends within the year, or whether they are both gone and Ryan ascends.

I do think we are in for some very dark times before we see the light and Dems regain control.

Ask me again this time next year.

like they only dreamed Obama was going to do to them.

We'll come storming back in 2 years and in 4 we'll be seated in complete power...maybe forever. At that time we'll destroy the deplorables and "their" America that trump built.
