1) So I wanted to vent my protest this week, especially Friday, or on the national protest solidarity/Saturday. So, I missed the last Saturday march of the local Farmworkers' Union (nothing in the news). So I called today and was told to watch the news for future events. I called NAACP, no answer. Called for Planned Parenthood, they've been disassociated into a non-Choice outfit with NO ties to Choice and events of any kind. Called places 300 miles away, no answer. Called the county Dem committee, no events. I've thought about squatting on a street corner by myself, do I need a permit?
2) So then the local radio wingnut talk show host spit out that John LEWIS had ALSO boycotted Shrub's 2001 inauguration. I sent him an e-mail while he was on the air, saying LIAR, that the whole 3 days past has had a loop of LEWIS saying he had never missed an inauguration before. So the wingnut replied that his source was a National Review link linking to a 2001 WashPost item saying LEWIS back then said Shrub was illegitimate and that LEWIS was boycotting Shrub's inaug. He answered back ignoring the LIE, saying that the only reason the LEWIS fracas got air play was that it was a slow news weekend
3) The local radio a-hole also yammered on the air about how sad it was that such a high class/highly qualified Monica CROWLEY had given up on joining the DRUMPF Junta for plagiary since she was such an illustrious human who had worked as an infant for Tricky Dick. I e-mailed him that it's NO sad thing, that she is a DIM BULB *and* a plagiarist, both things being eminently qualifying for being in the DRUMPF Junta, would FIT RIGHT IN!1 I also said that he probably didn't know CROWLEY is Lib-wimp Alan COLMES's sister-in-law (I wonder what the spouse is like).

(478 posts)Did we let this happen? Facing down outright lies is getting harder every day. We have a strong union movement here where I live, and I used to be in the middle of it, but I got old and couldn't be on the front lines anymore. What do we do? Where DO we go from here? There are still people of goodwill trying to do the right things, but, I have to admit, it does feel like we are becoming more fragmented. Ideas would be and are appreciated.

(19,566 posts)Not where you live, no personal details, please.
We can find you a protest march, you may have to drive, but I can put you in touch with people who are active and working toward change.
I'm fortunate and mine is very close, yours may be further for you. Don't be discouraged there are people in every state working to help get you there.
On edit: A DU mail is fine if you're more comfortable with that. I understand.
