Trump and the Republicans galvanizing support for Obamacare.

“President-elect Donald Trump and congressional Republicans appear to have accomplished a feat that President Obama, with all the power at his disposal, could not in the past seven years: They have galvanized outspoken support for the Affordable Care Act,” the New York Times reports.

“People who benefit from the law are flooding Congress with testimonials. Angry consumers are confronting Republican lawmakers. And Democrats who saw the law as a political liability in recent elections have suddenly found their voice, proudly defending the law now that it is in trouble.”

Now that it's about to be history, which they wanted and voted for, they're suddenly in favor of it?

I had someone tell me right to my face that she didn't like Obamacare but liked Covered California. It took all night to convince her that they are one-in-same.

It's an amazing example of the power of propaganda. Republicans spent an enormous amount of effort to demonize the name ACA and Obamacare. It may end up biting them in the ass now that Republicans "have" to repeal it, given they don't have an alternative (viable or not) other than die cheaply and quietly.

Democrats haven't been successful at advertising the benefits of the ACA.

that people have healthcare coverage. They don't. Like the hugest elephant in the room. They are all saying now. "what the hell. I don't care. This is hard. Why the hell are we doing this?"

need to be primaried, challenged and thrown out of office. Liebermanism should no longer be considered a progressive stance.

My congressman, Chet Edwards was allowed to vote against the ACA by Pelosi in order to try to keep his recently severely gerimandered district in Central Texas. He lost anyway to a tea partier named Bill Flores. Let's remember how difficult it was to get the ACA passed and hold those who want to destroy it accountable.

...or the Senate or wherever. There has to be a better way to get our opinions across.

Incidentally, Joe Lieberman was never adverised as anything but a solid Dem for his home state. They elected him. They like him. You want to get rid of him? Move to his state.

as imperfect as it is, it can only get better, I said. I have a friend on disability with COPD..makes about $50 too much a month to qualify for Medicaid, has a fully subsidized Obamacare policy. Her medicine is covered at approx. $800/month. Her right wing family is all trump, but will they, can they, help her pay for her medicine?

Was GOP hatred of the law due to ideology, or race? Their subsequent actions may be telling.

It was well planned, if a bit klunky with compromises here or there. Good luck trying to do anything
other than tweak here or there. It did insure people, it did save money, it just socialized the costs
on powerful people and they didn't like that.

Did he abdicate yet?

Would have been better if they'd rallied BEFORE November 8th, but better late than never.... I guess.

What? Did they REALLY think this buffoon was going to change after the election if he won???

Even here, the same bullshit infighting between Hillary and Bernie camps... for the love of everything decent, there's a bigger battle to be fought!!!

I know there's the problem that if you get voted out, you can't do anything, but if our representative stood more strongly in support, in actually advocating for our side in a more assertive way, I think we'd win more than we lose.
