The Majority Can No Longer Be Silent
Today Donald Trump will be sworn in as President of the United States and the world collectively weeps. While a few people will greet this news with enthusiasm, they are a clear minority. His poll numbers are at 32%, the lowest of any incoming President in recorded history. Trump lost the popular vote by nearly 3 million votes. Trump’s opponents are the clear majority, and we can no longer be silent.
“Nothing strengthens authority so much as silence," said Leonardo da Vinci.
As of today, silence officially becomes consent. Every single day we are silent normalizes the next day under President Trump.
President Obama recently said that, "Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek."
Our country needs us to raise our voice. Now is the time to signal your willingness to your friends and family that YOU will be the change that we seek.
Option 1: Add an Upside Down Flag filter to your profile pictures in recognition that we have officially become a Nation in Distress.
Option 2: Go high, and simply raise your voice by adding a filter of Barack and Michelle Obama. Let them know that while you are going high, you also accept President Obama’s challenge to be the Change that We Seek.
What must be made clear to the incoming President and the Congressional Republicans is that the majority will no longer be silent. We stand united in pursuit of justice and in defense of our freedoms.
