WASHINGTON, Feb 3 (Reuters) - The Republican-led Congress killed a controversial U.S. securities disclosure rule early on Friday aimed at curbing corruption at big oil, gas and mining companies.

In a 52 to 47 vote, the Senate approved a resolution already passed by the House of Representatives that wipes from the books a rule requiring companies such as Exxon Mobil and Chevron Corp to publicly state the taxes and other fees they pay to foreign governments.

Republican President Donald Trump is expected to sign it shortly.

Exxon and other major energy corporations have fought for years to prevent the rule, required by the 2010 Dodd-Frank Wall Street reform law, from seeing the light of day.

We can still undo this clusterfuck IF we stop the infighting, stop listening to candidates who don't have a snowball's chance in hell to win, and get behind Democrats who will.

the dissolution of the EPA ruling that forbids coal mining companies from dumping toxic sludge into streams?

I hear that folks in West Virginia, Kentucky, and southern Ohio like to fish. They can now get that wonderful charcoal fragrance from their catches without spending time smoking their fish. Oh, yeah, the cancer will get them, but that's months away. And besides, the GOP is FIXING Obamacare, so they'll all be covered when they get their diagnosis.

We don't need no stinkin' EPA. All they want to do is protect the rivers. Who gives a damn about rivers? Mine that coal and do it as cheaply as possible to compete with the price of... oh... natural gas and... oh.. solar and wind (which are all way cheaper than coal).

Black water is better.
