Sat Feb 4, 2017, 12:31 PM

not, as far as I know, answer to the Executive or Legislative branches. In the 1950s, US Marshalls accompanied black children to racially segregated schools to enforce federal court orders to desegregate said facilities.

The judge in this case might first have to issue an Order to Show Cause, compelling defendant Trump (how I like the sounds of those words) to appear to show cause why he should not be held in contempt. Upon his almost-certain failure to appear, the judge could then dispatch marshalls to compel his appearance. This is all theoretical, of course.

Sat Feb 4, 2017, 01:13 PM
Feb 2017

at some point law enforcement will need to step in to arrest those in the administration who are in violation, up to and including Trump. This needs to happen before he can marshal enough law enforcement, the military and private security (Erik Prince!) loyal to him to stave off arrest. As an example, at the beginning of the Muslim ban, CBP, which is an armed branch of federal law enforcement, was clearly defying court orders and siding with Trump. And just in the past few days the leadership of the Justice Department belongs to him. Will it come to sending a SWAT team into federal offices or even the White House? Is so, how will that end? The longer he's allowed to amass power, the worse it could be, including the defeat and casualties of the forces attempting arrest.

One of the standards for issuing a Temporary Restraining Order is that the complainant is "likely to succeed on the merits" in arguing his case.

Hey Trump, how about you shut your Tweet hole and send your consigliere to Washington to argue against an injunction of your unconstitutional EO?
