Everyone's proposing names for the movement. Here's mine: "LIBERTY'S LAMP"

Last edited Sat Feb 4, 2017, 11:10 AM - Edit history (1)

We need to take back the historical American imagery and state that we are the ones protecting the REAL American values.

There are huge, historic, worldwide values at stake here. America has always striven to be a nation where people can reach their highest ideals. We have lost sight of that, but right now WE are the ones protecting that value. We need a name that shows that.

To those who say this is a frivolous exercise, I used to agree. Before the election, Recursion did a thread where he essentially said we needed a slogan. I thought this was ridiculous and simple minded. I have since been proven wrong and he has been proven right. "MAGA," though idiotic in its context, was indeed a rallying point for the followers of Mr. American Carnage.

Sadly, we really do need a catchy name.

ETA: I keep editing as people make suggestions.

I agree we need to develop a name before we are branded anti-whatevers, by the Trumpanzees. Hugin Feb 2017 #2
Hmmm... The Liberty Torch Coalition... I like it. I'm going to edit the OP title. Squinch Feb 2017 #3
respectfully, the RW will merely turn it around to claim it means WE want to TORCH Liberty hlthe2b Feb 2017 #4
True. Editing OP title again! Thanks. Squinch Feb 2017 #5

Now a bit too long, not catchy enough. "Liberty's Torch" was closer. jmg257 Feb 2017 #8

Rethuglicans have bastardized the word "liberty". I think the movement will keep "RESIST." Trust Buster Feb 2017 #16

And it says it all. I especially like how it makes me think of Star Wars. It fits.

Why don't we do a poll of the best ideas and see what we think?

We will be given a most unpalatable name which they will yell into every open microphone they can find. (Our methodology should be identical when a rallying call is found.)

Maybe include the words, "Coalition" or "Allies" in there somewhere?

I trust the creativity and intelligence of our people to come up with something inspiring and lasting.

ones who own America's values, when in fact all their positions are completely antithetical to traditional American values.

WE are the true Americans. We are the ones who welcome people and encourage them to add innovation and flavor and color to our country. We are the ones who see and revere their value.

Alpha (? or ? ) and omega (? or ? ) are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet, and a title of Christ and God in the Book of Revelation. This couple of letters are used as Christian symbols,[1] and are often combined with the Cross, Chi-rho, or other Christian symbols.
