Strategies/Democratic Senators and Reps

I have been calling my Democratic Senators and Reps frequently pushing for an independent investigation outside of Congress to investigate the Russian/Trump ties. Does anyone know any realistic ways they can be bold in pushing this?

Michael Moore had suggested they need to shut down Congress but I understand that wouldn't be realistic. Anything else they can do or are we stuck waiting for Republicans to see the light?
