Hey, I just want him to do, there are sleeper cells of Obama appointees throughout this government who are in political jobs. Theyre not civil servants, and I want them, I really want them gone yesterday, Hewitt said.
Hewitt then asked Conway if the administration is willing to consider recess appointments, which occur when the Senate is not in session, in order to bypass Congressional oversight.
Would you push that, because weve got to stand up this government, and Senate Democrats are not going to do anything to assist us in getting going.
Everythings on the table. All of that is being discussed, Hugh. And you make some excellent points. Youre right about the Democrats, Conway asserted. I mean, to see sort of congenital, presumptive obstruction and negativity is very concerning, because it just means that the government cant function fully, and that theyre obstructing regardless of who the individual is thats being considered, regardless of the post that needs to be filled. And its very frustrating.

(31,514 posts)obstructing his appointments at every turn and that's the reason he doesn't have all his appointments. That is not entirely true.
Mitch McConnell, the Senate Republican leader, just the other day said that this is the most conservative Cabinet hes seen. Democrats take that as validation of their arguments.
But in terms of broadly, beyond just the Cabinet, the Senate-confirmed positions, President Trump has named 34 people so far. That is just slightly behind pace of President Obama and ahead of the pace of President Bill Clinton and President George W. Bush. So hes not actually behind, despite many stories saying, oh, my gosh, hes behind.

(4,394 posts)government officials appointed by your political rivals and she needs to be called out on that shit now.
This is just the first step in labeling all Democrats terrorists and the career civil service as "the enemy".
Nevermind the obvious hypocrisy, this is dogwhistling to their base who have been fed forty years of faux news bullshit and are convinced everyone who disagrees with them is a traitor.
It's disgusting way to treat the federal work force.

As I see it, her right side is a repulsive rictus of fear, hate and malice. The left side kind of agape as if at some deep level below her conscious mind she is in absolute, stark horror of her own self (as she should be).

(90,762 posts)Trump has named ONLY *34 people to be confirmed out of almost 600 plus staff needed (most don't need to be confirmed). But, somehow, that's Obama's fault because of Obama minions running about DC with their hands over Trump's mouth, preventing him from giving names.
Obama's "sleeper cells" rewired the WH to make it harder to find the light switches.
Obama's "sleeper cells" wouldn't even explain how to flush the toilets!
Obama's "sleeper cells" are the leakers (naturally) causing all the trouble in Trump's government, making them all look bad.
Obama's "sleeper cells" spend their nights letting out Spicer's suits causing him to look like he's wearing his Daddy's clothes.
Obama's "sleeper cells" have secretly been plucking one strand of hair a day from Kellyanne's head and then patting her arm while telling her how sorry they are that stress is causing her to lose her hair.
Obama's "sleeper cells" told Melania Trump that the ghosts in the WH don't like her. At night, Trump walks about the WH in his dirty robe that reeks of Big-Macs and KFC looking for the ghosts, in case they're hot. At least an 8.
* At last count, 20 waiting to be confirmed, 14 confirmed. The rest - Trump hasn't bothered suggesting anyone. The numbers could have changed since last week. I saw the chart on MSNBC.

(8 posts)Regarding recess appointments during the current recess, at least when I looked last Friday, the Senate had pro forma sessions scheduled for this week.
SCOTUS has ruled that when Senate maintains pro forma sessions, they aren't in recess.
Besides, recess is supposed to be 10 days or longer. Friday to the following Monday week is 9 days.
BumRushDaShow
(128,847 posts)I was wondering if they would still do them since they could pretty much jam through whoever they wanted normally. After Shrub had Bolton recess-appointed, doing pro formas pretty much became standard practice however.
