Manafort blackmailed

Did I miss discussion of this?

http://www.politico.com/story/2017/02/paul-manafort-blackmail-russia-trump-235275

Politico has a story about Paul Manafort's daughter receiving texts from a Ukrainian politician/journalist saying he, the Ukrainian, had info about Manafort, Trump, and meetings with a Ukrainian minister of coal.

Are you surprised that it's being denied or not commented upon?

The story was on DKos. It hasn't gotten nearly the play I'd like. Of course, not about emails. (Snark.)

and don't come out and say he was blackmailed - but rather he may have been subject to being blackmailed (what ever that means.)

I haven't seem any team Trump response.

was the response. In the linked story it says Manafort says the texts occurred but the events didn't. Apparently the texts have no time/date stamp.

4. He quit the campaign (or was fired) abruptly after the convention.

imo for one of two reasons.

1) A story leaked that a ledger had been found for a Foundation in Ukraine that was actual a large slush fund to bribe (lawmakers? not sure who the targets were), and his name was on it for receiving several million dollars. He denied it. Around that time he left the campaign.

or

2) This. He was approached for blackmail (or was blackmailed?)

Or perhaps story 1 was what was threatened to be disclosed and the fact that it was (during the campaign) let to his departure, but suggests he didn't give into the blackmail.

I posted before reading your post. Remembered the general story, not the specifics. Time to reacquaint myself with the story.

Something revealing likely to come out when they prosecute him for treason?

10. Do you think Manafort really cares about Yanukovych? Its common knowledge he was a client.

Manafort consuted for his campaign and got him elected...it was his job under Blackstone. {ETA: so did Mark Penn (Clinton) and Tad Devine (Bernie Sanders)}. Now payments for services are another issue, but not totally sure why, other than that administration was very corrupt, and the payments themselves are suspect...

Handwritten ledgers show $12.7 million in undisclosed cash payments designated for Mr. Manafort from Mr. Yanukovych’s pro-Russian political party from 2007 to 2012, according to Ukraine’s newly formed National Anti-Corruption Bureau. Investigators assert that the disbursements were part of an illegal off-the-books system whose recipients also included election officials.

IS it a big deal trump met with Tulub in 2012? Tulub (another low life - now a wanted man) was Ukraine's Energy/Coal Ministers or some such. Trump was, besides a Manafort client, a business man.

Serhiy Tulub, Head of Cherkasy Regional State Administration, spoke about brown coal production plans by the Energy Investment Company in Cherkasy region.

Manafort referring to “bulletproof” evidence related to Manafort’s financial arrangement with Ukraine’s former president, the pro-Russian strongman Viktor Yanukovych, as well as an alleged 2012 meeting between Trump and a close Yanukovych associate named Serhiy Tulub.
