and dozens of books. I sat through hours of lectures by esteemed experts, but in the end I learned the most important lesson from the simple title of a book by an educator who works with marginalized populations: "Other People's Children".

That kid at the lunch table is somebody's precious child. Treat him or her with the same compassion, acceptance, openness, and kindness as you would want others to treat your own.
