Well, White People

The resistance at the GOP townhalls has an element that the media doesn't seem to be able account for. It shapes the mouthwords the media can use and alters the right wing template to dismiss such activity.

It's White People!

I noticed this this morning in CNN News Day. David Gregory was in for Chris Cuomo. The media is used to reporting on the activities (especially night time activities such as rioting or destruction) then leading the discussion with "Well,....". This part usually contains some sort or degree of dismissal of the participants as BLM or youngsters or students etc. THESE recent events tend to include a lot of white people. Middle aged white folks. The media has no way to readily disregard the en masse.

Right wing media is struggling with this too, bless their hearts. First there were claims of "busing them in" to *GASP* being "organized" to being progressive imposters of regular everyday Republican type people (heard yesterday on Glenn Beck).

Oh those problematic white people!

That includes Democratic Politicians, organizers of all stripes, pollsters, media, pundits both left and right, Tea Party teabaggers etc.. An organic rebellion that includes the demographic that allowed Trump in the door.....add to that rascist jerks were kicked off a plane and the passengers cheered.

The total Republican denial is the best part.

Who would have thought?

Stirring up the habitually frightening isn't hard or surprising, normal people getting themselves this stirred up is hard to explain... at least it is for the media.

there are tons of blue votes out there in supposedly red areas. They thought they were isolated and powerless, and now they are realizing there are progressives around them who had also been a bit cowed into silence and thought their votes wouldn't matter.

People of color and immigrants of all types have known for a while what has been happening. White privelege has allowed these people to ignore it. Those white people are waking up and starting to realize a basic fact. All rights are human rights, all rights are civil rights.

The new DNC chair better realize and exploit this.

Jon Stewart actually laughed at Howard Dean and his door flyer back when Dean was the DNC chair. Often ignored because it doesn't fit the narrative but the 2006 midterms were a complete ass stomping because the DNC took the fight to them and ran good candidates.

.... getting pissed that a woman's question about the "replacement" part of "repeal and replace" seemingly totally being dismissed. I admit I got angry hearing him respond to her well-thought-out question being responded to with "Okay, let's take a few more questions", even though it might have been to hear multiple questions and answer them at once.

He was furious that "leftists" who were a "minority" in the state were acting like an "angry mob". I pointed out that starting off with that attitude naturally was going to anger people.

He's also upset about the "Indivisible Guide" being distributed. He wasn't too pleased when I referred him to "Conservative Rules for Radicals" and Tea Party townhall disruption memos.
