(17,246 posts)The premier of Alberta, Rachel Notley, kept a alt-right news outlet called The Rebel out of a press conference, but quickly reversed course. The Rebel is far more spin than news. It is deplorable. Yet it's always a public relations nightmare to attempt to shut out news organizations.

(12,584 posts)The way I read it, it had nothing to do with the President; the treasury Dept, which was the subject of the article denied it happened; it was a Faux news assertion; and other media didn't back them up.
Your post is False News!

(11,489 posts)My point was the Obama had a very contentious, justifiably, relationship with Fox News and the other networks all banded together and pressured Obama not to exclude Fox. Now all the other networks that backed up Fox are being banned and Fox has no problem attending without them.

(12,584 posts)And I think President Obama was remarkably patient and tolerant of Faux News, a medium which distorted everything he said and did.

(11,489 posts)The mainstream media all stood behind Fox News, much to my chagrin at the time.
"As for Foxs claim that other Washington bureau chiefs came to the networks rescue over the alleged snub, TPMDC reports that it spoke with one of the other network bureau chiefs, who apparently was surprised to learn that Fox was describing the situation that way.
If any member had been excluded it would have been same thing, it has nothing to do with Fox or the White House or the substance of the issues, the bureau chief said. Its all for one and one for all.
Friday night on the CBS Evening News, White House correspondent Chip Reid corroborated the idea of the networks standing up behind Fox News.
All the networks said, thats it, youve crossed the line, he said.

If you think it was deceptive because it wasn't the press briefing as I had remembered it to be, then ok, point taken. My point was that when Obama was trying to get Fox News out, the other media stood behind Fox News. Fox News sure as hell has no intention of repaying that favor.

(22,651 posts)just an arm of the Republican party.
fox and their herd of Republican assholes persisted & complained, "we're fair and balanced" and the President allowed them in AND allowed them to PRETEND they're a real news ORG.
fox is an arm of the Republican party, a propaganda machine. 24/7 campaign for republicans only.

(22,651 posts)they're already full time 'fake news' republican rags.
WE can read the white house record to see what was said in 'daily briefing'.
