Gay couple attacked by man in moped: 'You live in Trump country now'

A drunken scooter rider in Key West chased two gay men and forced one off his bike while shouting politically-charged hate speech at them.

Kevin Seymour, 38, and Kevin Paul Taylor, 49, said they were biking home from dinner late Wednesday night when a tourist in a scooter called them faggots and “a slew of other anti-gay remarks,” according to the police report. The scooter knocked Seymour’s bike, throwing him to the ground.

“We were victims of a hate crime last night biking home from dinner. He kept stopping in front of us and swerving into us. Finally Kevin got ahead of him and the guy charges him with his scooter and runs into him and knocks him off his bike. Kevin is okay,” Taylor wrote on his Facebook page, according to FL Keys News.

“I bet you faggots voted for that bitch Hillary,” the suspect reportedly said. “Well, you live in Trump country now.” Seymour told the man that he was calling 911 while they were being chased. “If you do that, I’ll cut you up,” the man replied.

Police were called at 1 AM. One witness gave a statement confirming the men’s story.

Having been there dozens of times (my wife and i have friends that live there), i would have never predicted this. I mean who goes to KW without knowing that it's a highly tolerant environment and that gay people have been open and out there for a really long time.

Also, how would one know that someone is gay because they were riding a bicycle? People get from place to place by bike all over KW all the time.

Last point: I'm guessing someone is very lucky they didn't get caught riding that motorized vehicle while impaired. Strong suspicion that dude was liquored up.

I always thought one rides on a scooter or on a moped or on any sort of two-wheeled vehicle.

36. My daughter is a Lesbian...she and her girl friend have been harrassed.

I called the school and raised hell...she goes to college. Next the parents of the effected kids including me took our cameras over and waited for these hateful people...they show up with signs and engage in hate speech against the kids...old twisted SOB's when the kids come out of their unity meeting. We took everyone's picture and told them...if you say one word to the kids...this will posted on every site we can find...do you have jobs? was informed my daughter was gay...and they had a choice...accept that or never come around again...even those who are old and religious...did not turn away from this lovely girl...and accepted her girl friend when they came for my Son's wedding this year.
