The state senate is tied 17-17 with two special elections for seats where a Democrat and a Republican winner from November of 2016 resigned.
The Democratic race is from a heavily Democratic district and the Republican that won this past November won 68-32. However, if Democrats are energized and turn out, it is potentially a flip in a low turnout election.

(56,828 posts)but, it would be a longshot for Demcrats to flip the 32nd senate district in the state - the Republican that won in November won it with almost 68% of the vote and I think Trump received a little over 60% in the district.
That said, if it's a low turnout election and Dems get a base of progressive to turn out, it could make a difference.
Also working against Democrats is our unpopular Democratic governor Dan Malloy
