I was passionate about Bernie, voted for HRC. The Bernie hate here is sometimes so palpable I feel like I don't belong. The HRC hate at the other place is so palpable I feel like I don't belong there either. Sigh.
I'm a world-class lurker, joined DU in 2004 when Wes Clark dropped out of the primary, had only a thousand messages in 2012 when we moved, new computer, new server, forgotten password. DU wouldn't recognize me, wouldn't answer pleas for help. So - I had to start over. I don't expect anyone to remember me -- didn't post enough for that -- but I started out as Disorganized.

(13,340 posts)I'm personally bugged by the continued Sanders/Clinton split. I would have happily, if not enthusiastically voted for Bernie had he won the nomination.
I used to strongly admire him, and still do to some extent. His behavior during the primaries, especially after it was clear he had lost the nomination, was a sore point to me. His continual insistence on participating in party politics while not actually JOINING the party just makes it worse.
Never-the-less, I can't say I hate him, or his followers here. JPR can go screw their alt-right selves. But I do think it's important to recognize that if you want to actually influence the direction of the party, you need to actually commit to it. I'd like to see him, and his followers, do that. And that discussion should done in the spirit of collegiality, not derision or exclusion.

(1,303 posts)And, like you, I voted for Bernie in the primary and Hillary in the election. To be honest, I don't understand the hate on either side. We sure don't need it and it diminishes our party as well as the person doing the hating. Hate is corrosive and eats the heart of the person that hates.
So, you are not alone. There are a group of us here too. Just hang in there. I hang back and try to avoid ruffling feathers on either side.

(7,572 posts)I did not post much. newantique. I did go to the event in Little Rock. There were hundreds of posters on that site, and the threads went through like lightning - lots of energy back then for Clark.

(543 posts)You're right. So much energy. DU has been a good site, but I still miss Clark. Sigh that he didn't make it. I was never happy with Kerry, didn't trust Edwards at all, was so disappointed when Kerry picked him for vp. Edwards felt very much on the surface. Talked a good game, but seemed to be all talk.

(7,572 posts)Clark would have added so much to the ticket. I always thought if Hillary had been nom. in 08, and won, that he would have been in her administration somewhere. Don't know about their current connection. I guess you knew the Clark's are divorced and he has a much younger girl-friend. Don't know if he married her.

(38,958 posts)although I participate both here and JPR. There are some folks who are very civil even if they disagree and others who simply have a my way or the highway attitude and that is not limited to the choice of site or conversation.
Use the ignore feature, hide the posts, threads or posters and do what you can to make yourself happy. Remember that their opinion is no more or less valid than your opinion or the opinion of anyone else.

(11,910 posts)I'm kindof in the same boat - donated to both campaigns over the course of the election, was a Bernie supporter, voted for Hillary when she got the nom. There are lots of good people on DU. The "my way or I'm taking my ball and going home" from either side are a vocal minority. The truth is that the divisions on the Democratic side - both locally and nationally - have to either be mended or put on the back burner for now because we need to unite to fight back and to flip Congress in 2018. If we want to have infighting, it needs to be put on hold or we won't ever have to worry about who we run again because we won't ever be in power again. We'll need everybody and then some.
That's also going to mean uniting with sane Republicans (once we identify some Certainly none I'm related to. They're all freakin' Trump nuts!).

(543 posts)I've put several of the worst bashers on ignore, and try not to open threads that obviously bash Bernie. But sometimes I find myself in one anyway. I can't see a difference between Hate Bernie and Hate HRC, can't understand that kind of ugliness, that kind of inability to let go.

I'm sticking around here; because it's a place to work from and because it has been a creative outlet.
Stick around and work for the party. By the way, have you become active in your local Dem party?

(4,407 posts)Time we find a middle ground for all liberals to gather around. Somebody who can make all Democrats feel comfortable regardless of race, sex, religion, national origin, sexual preference and identity. Someone who is truly progressive and does not have a history/ties with Wall Street and the giant business interests. Somebody who is truly dedicated to a peaceful resolution of crises around the world whenever possible. My millennial son texted me the other day with:
Millennials: Recommit to the most basic New Deal era safety nets and you'll have a voting base for life.
