Majority of Young Americans View Trump as Illegitimate

MAR 19 2017, 3:05 PM ET
by ASSOCIATED PRESS

... A majority of young adults — 57 percent — see Trump's presidency as illegitimate, including about three-quarters of blacks and large majorities of Latinos and Asians, the GenForward poll found.

GenForward is a poll of adults age 18 to 30 conducted by the Black Youth Project at the University of Chicago with The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.

A slim majority of young whites in the poll, 53 percent, consider Trump a legitimate president, but even among that group 55 percent disapprove of the job he's doing, according to the survey ...

1. Whos confident and whos nervous?

... Americans agree ... Trump is trying to do a lot ... Whether they like it all is a different matter ...

The Believers give him credit for the recent economic gains. If he’s stymied as he pursues his goals, it’s only because of a politically-motivated opposition. When he’s faced with disagreement, they’re the most likely to want him to take his case directly to the people. They say the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) does not do accurate, non-partisan work ...

Those on the fence about Mr. Trump – not supporting him, but who say they might someday (we call them “curious”) – are staying on that fence for now. They haven’t become supporters. The health-care bill and his deportation policies have put them off – most say it’s made their view of him worse. So while they’re also glad for the good economic news, they report being “nervous” about the president’s approach, feeling he is “distracted,” trying to do “too much at once,” and even “temperamental.” They don’t like his tweets much at all. They are generally not trusting of either left- or right-leaning information sources, nor of either party in Congress or the administration ...

The president’s strongest critics, whom we’ve labeled “resisters” in the NationTracker for their expressed steadfast opposition to him, not only disagree with his policies but also describe him as “distracted” and “divisive,” and they want him to make deals with other Republicans, if only to listen to other voices, though they trust neither him nor Speaker Paul Ryan ...

13. Any economic gains are not Trumps doing. He hasn't done shit yet to have caused that.

So far his budget is just a proposal and not something that is approved and in place. We had pretty much the same economic situation last year and these Republicans were complaining then.

The daily poll results are based on telephone interviews with 1,500 people nationwide and has a 3% margin of error.

Trump’s predecessor, Barack Obama, generally polled approval in the low 50s, but his disapproval ratings were in the mid-40s throughout March 2016, according to Gallup ...

... Most North Carolinians continue to disapprove of President Donald Trump’s job performance, according to a poll released late last month by High Point University following his address to a joint session of Congress.

The survey says 55 percent disapprove of Trump’s work so far; 36 percent approve. This is similar to a survey done in early February, when 36 percent approved, but 52 disapproved of his performance ...

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Fox 32 News) ...

A survey of Gallup polls done since Harry Truman was president show that at this point in his presidency, Trump is faring worse in the public's opinion than any other leader before him.

In 1945, Truman had an 87 percent approval rating. Other presidents, including Dwight Eisenhower, John Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson and Jimmy Carter, all enjoyed approval ratings in the 70s at this point in their presidencies.

President Barack Obama had a 63 percent approval rating in the March following his first inauguration.

But the Real Clear Politics average of polls shows that Trump's approval rating is currently at 43.7% ...

6. So, why didn't they vote?
Mon Mar 20, 2017, 06:44 AM
Mar 2017

About half the number of eligible voters between the ages of 18 and 29 (whom we’ll refer to as “millennials,” although

millennials also include people in their early-to-mid-30s) cast ballots in this election. That rate falls well below the estimated

general voter turnout rate of roughly 58 percent. About 55 percent of those millennial voters supported Clinton, as compared

to the 60 percent who supported Obama in 2012, according to CIRCLE’s analysis. Conversely, youth support from

Republicans remained relatively constant: Trump got about 37 percent of the youth vote, roughly equivalent to what Mitt

Romney received in 2012.
That’s according to an analysis of 2016 exit poll data by the Center for Information & Research on Civic Learning and

Engagement (CIRCLE), a nonpartisan research organization at Tufts University.
NOW, how do we get these young people to the polls? Put an APP on their Smart Phone? Promise them pizza and porn?

I don't know ~ I give up ~ it's their future they are putting in the hands of con-men and traitors. I've voted in every election

since I was 'of age', I am now 72 ~ nobody had to conjole me, threaten me, or promise me a pony ~ I do it because I care

about my country and my fellow citizens, especially those less fortunate than myself.

12. This is an example of what went wrong with election
Mon Mar 20, 2017, 08:31 AM
Mar 2017

"I do not like him as a person," says Gallardo of Trump. She nonetheless voted for Trump because she didn't trust Clinton. "I felt like there wasn't much choice."

Some how people got the idea that Hillary was less trustworthy Trump. They got that totally wrong. Trump is probably the most untrustworthy person to ever run for president. They had misplaced trust in this idiot Trump to take care of them, but he isn't doing that at all. It amazes me how bad people are at spotting liars. I think it isn't that hard. Christ, Trump said so much ridiculous shit and people just ate it up. As if they thought he could get Mexico to pay for the wall. That's just one thing.
