When it comes to marriage, annulment differs from a divorce. If granted, an annulment is retroactive. Legally, the marriage is considered to have never happened.
That's what we need when it comes to tRump: an annulment. A ruling that would mean that the name tRump and the title of president were never linked in any way.

(40,416 posts)There are no do-overs or Mulligans for our presidential elections.
All we have is impeachment in the House and trial in the US Senate, or the 25th amendment. Either way, VEEP Pence becomes president. (BTW, he's a theocrat.)
In other words, we're kind of screwed. We need to all vote.
Tired of this rubbish! Read your US Constitution.

(64,931 posts)can allowed to either be or become POTUS. I forgot to state that they should both be convicted, also.

(40,416 posts)We must all admit that as undeniable.
I don't see any rational way out of this. We need congress in Democratic Party hands. That makes it 2019 at the earliest.
Remember, under a Democratic congress it took over two years to get Nixon out of the White House.
Unless Drumpf goes considerably more barking mad then he already is, there is likely no easy fix here. And there's near zero chance that we wouldn't get Pence as POTUS as a result. The problem is whether anybody would be alive after Drumpf falls down.
And Pence is a fucking theocrat!!!!

(64,931 posts)has gone batshit crazy and it appears that Pence is even tangentially involved, there will be deals made to end this clusterfuck. Who knows. The thing is, the Repubicans will be relying on nearly 20 Democratic Senators to vote to convict. There will have to be deals made.
Otherwise, then it will just have to wait until 2019, when the Repubicans will get slaughtered in the mid-terms. Even then, if both houses roll over to the Democrats, I doubt they would get 67 votes in the Senate to convict.

Scary.

(64,931 posts)These guys and the entire misadministation are so deeply involved in this. With Watergate, Gerald Ford was not involved. Pence is just as involved as tRump.
This is completely unprecedented (or is it unpresidented)?
Constitutional Crisis.

(40,416 posts)It is indeed a constitutional crisis of the likes we have never seen.
Remember John Chancellor on the Saturday Night Massacre?
And that was an extraordinary day in US history.
But there are no annulments for presidential elections in the US Constitution, in spite of what some people apparently think.
