Groups -- including American Bridge, the liberal super PAC and opposition research firm led by longtime Clinton adviser David Brock -- have found out through polls and focus groups that voters who backed Obama in 2008 but Trump in 2016 are more swayed by Trump's plans to repeal the Affordable Care Act than they are by other issues.

(37,648 posts)I think some Democrats, and mainly politicians, didn't realize the anger out there about Obamacare among those who had lost their insurance because they couldn't afford it any more, or couldn't find doctors, or got bad care, or whatever. One reason they may have been deaf to it is that you had to actually experience it by buying individual Obamacare plans to understand what was going on. Some of the complaints were unbelievable, but were true, as it turned out.
I heard plenty of anger about it. So I'm not surprised by this at all.

You can shop all the plans, see the list of area Doctors who accept the plans.
I don't believe those focus group voters were fully informed about ACA- benefits and consumer protection from the Insurance Corporations. Insurance Corporations, all Corporations must be regulated by our Government.
I have an individual plan. On my 3rd year, its been smooth and affordable.
ACA act needs some adjustments not trashing. All large programs like Social Security needed years of adjustments.

Some months ago I posted about an acquaintance of mine, a warm, generous health-care worker who told me she voted for tRump because that's what she wanted, and it didn't seem to occur to her that he was lying.

(15,805 posts)Frankly the logic escapes me. Do they not connect the dots and see that people will die, get sicker, lose everything they have, be unable to work, and eventually depend on tax money to cover all their expenses? Or is it curtain #1 - the standard Republican line that as long as they've got got theirs, everyone else can just go to hell? I'm leaning toward door #2 - the damned bigots and racists think only 'those' people need Obamacare, so who gives a fuck if they don't have it, right?
