....................The stunt by Devin Nunes was clumsy, risky, suspicious, desperate, and likely to backfire on him. So why is Nunes putting himself at such great risk to try to create a distraction on Trumps behalf? Lets talk about the financial business that Nunes conducts with Russia. In addition to being a Congressman, hes part owner of Alpha Omega Winery LLC. According to the Los Angeles Times he has $50,000 of his own money tied up in the winery, which is remarkable considering that the same report lists his total net worth at just $51,002. In other words, the winery is all Nunes has.
According to Scott Dworkin of the respected Democratic Coalition Against Trump, the Nunes winery has a Russian distributor who is close to Vladimir Putin. This means Nunes has the vast majority of his small net worth tied up in a business venture which partially relies on sales in Russia. At the least, Nunes benefits greatly if Trump remains in office long enough to continue repealing Russian sanctions. Is this why Nunes is so desperate to protect Trump? ........................

(505 posts)No matter which new Trump guy pops up, they all seem to have some kind of close business relationships or personal relationships to Russia. And most of them not just with some random Russian guys, but usually officials or oligarchs or Putin himself.
It's never Spain, Germany, Italy, South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, Australia, Iceland... It's the one thing they all have in common. Russia ties. What the f%$§! I feel like I'm the worst conspiracy theorist ever, or maybe I'm already losing my mind, but this just can't be coincidence.

(36,388 posts)It says most all his money is tied up in a single Napa winery, yet there is no mention of his interests in a second winery.

(70,093 posts)I am aware of the over zealous Palmer Reports. But it all seems to flow at the moment (IMHO)

(36,388 posts)Nunes is a third-generation Portuguese-American, and he grew up working on his family's dairy farm. As a teenager, he raised cattle and saved money to buy farmland with his brother, according to his congressional biography. He has degrees in agriculture and keeps his hand in farming through an investment in two California wineries run by a friend he met through his alumni network.

(1,901 posts)It cannot be accurate. I think the majority of his net worth is under his wife's name. There isn't even their home indicated there, per the internets their home in the district is worth 400k, a condo. It's common for them to hide their assets under their wives names.

(9,974 posts)I clicked thru the pdf's. Says he has "limited partnership" in the Alpha winery which at one point gave him around 2k/year "income". I'm assuming that comes from the $50k he has invested? I don't know enough about business dealings, maybe someone here does.
Housing wise at one point one of the pdf's listed a house and a mortgage but now it refers to him having a condo that he gets rent from in his district so I assume he rents it out to someone.
Anyway...the pdf's go way back to the early 2000's.
The definition of "net worth", per parts of the overall website, is gotten when they subtract one's liabilities from their asset$.
