(3,813 posts)Actually, I am sure you have many more than that, but two inspiring-leader Senators and that damn fine Representative sure makes for a good top-o'-the-list. May we all seek and find such excellent representation in our own states!
Though I will probably never live there again, I do fondly recall the Winter of 1991 working in the BWCA: the sound (and occasional sight) of wolves across the frozen lakes. At least 7 days out of any 10 being excellent for xc skiing, wonderful friends and coworkers, many of whom joined me in opposing Iraq War 1... good times.
Despite its woeful lack of mountains, grits, biscuits, collard greens, and southern drawls, Minnesota is still all right with me!

The question has been which choice among the few available piss-poor options has the best chance of forcing them to produce a more moderate nominee. These guys aren't looking for a way to make a lot of angry noise to gratify some voters but to avoid a Gorsuch on SCOTUS.
For sure, we do not have the power to keep them from filling the seat for very long. They can just change the rules to go around us.

(53,061 posts)If we didn't force the issue this time then next time when we have an even worse nominee they would still blow up the filibuster.

(56,828 posts)If a Democrat wins in 2020 and Dems have the Senate, they'll just ram through every nominee on an up or down vote.

(32,599 posts)During the Senate confirmation interview of Michael Flynn, he got Flynn to commit perjury on video.
Nobody realized it until later.
Once they found out that Flynn was working for Putin and the Turkish government, Flynn went down in flames.
It was the first domino, then they all started to fall.
I believe Senator Franken had some intel about Flynn, and asked the right questions at the right time.
Well done!

(17,884 posts)From our 2, "Crazy Thom" Tillis ignores us and Burr sent us a long, stinking pile of excrement of a letter explaining why DeVos wasn't nearly as nuts and awful as we kept telling him in numerous emails and phone calls.
Her confirmation was an embarrassment.
