Especially after being willing to essentially take healthcare away from everyone, which is what the Freedumb caucus demanded.

(11,736 posts)It is a slap in the face for Trump, a kick in the teeth for Ryan, and makes the battle within the Republican party more pitched. They will not be able to do anything on healthcare for a while. It will be fun to watch Ryan and Trump trade mean tweets while Mitch McConnell goes of quietly to change his underwear.
Anything that the lunatic Freedom Caucus wants will be devastating and too extreme and will make the Republicans seen heartless (which they are). Anything more moderate will not pass through the Caucus. They are in the proverbial painted corner if the bill goes down.

(2,795 posts)Paul Ryan is the worst, disgusting creature that draws breath on this earth. I probably hate him more than Donald Trump. He's heartless, he's smug and smarmy, and he delights in his maker status and sticking it to the "takers" which really aren't takers but anyone who isn't making $250,000 and above.
I want to see defeat in that fucker's face. This is his crowning glory and I want so badly for him to taste defeat.

(2,795 posts)McConnell is as heartless and odious as Ryan. If this piece of trash makes it out of the house then we'll move to seeing the smug, psychopathic ugliness of Mitch McConnell. He's old and out of touch and I wonder every time someone really awesome dies why things like him continue to be allowed to walk the earth and make the lives of so many others miserable.
...and house rats are jumping ship behind the feral ones, driving the loss margin up.

(23,944 posts)weak as it is, the ACA still does too much for people, so destroying it outright is untenable
make the ACA suck a lot more, reduce state Medicaid supports, and they'll be able to get their bill through, but it gets closer to 2018 then raising the stakes for GOP congresscritters

What they feared is happening. When Rodney Frelinghuysen, the chairman of the appropriations committee, came out against, which is extremely unusual, it gave others the go ahead to say no, as well. Because that chair generally rubber-stamps any repuke president and they follow their leaders.

(1,397 posts)How many times during the campaign did Trump tell us he is the Master Dealmaker of All Time??
Looks as though that claim was as much bullshit as everything else he claims.
Let's look at the Master Dealmaker at work on the promise to "repeal and replace" the Affordable Care Act.
Monday, March 20: 21 House Republicans will vote NO.
Tuesday, March 21: The Master Dealmaker Himself goes to Capitol Hill to make deals.
Wednesday, March 22: 27 House Republicans will vote NO.
Thursday, March 23: 34 House Republicans will vote NO, another 17 are leaning to vote NO.
Friday, March 24: "Over 40" House Republicans will vote NO. One Republican House member said: "We are going to lose and lose big. Once one person votes NO, the floodgates open."

(470 posts)to anything. that's what having no vote at all means. Not one single congressman has to go on the record.
I think that's a problem for our form of government. I think more voting, not less, is the answer.
