(11,738 posts)They think that Tax cuts for the wealthy while gutting all of the programs that have kept the middle and working classes hanging on by their nails, is going to be a winning strategy.
You can always count on Republican overreach!!

(9,291 posts)I'm guessing the President doesn't see that his own party is not going to give up theit political capital for someone under FBI investigation for being a foreign asset.
Clue phone ringing, unsure if they can get through.

(82,849 posts)The rules as they stand now say that before any more massive transfers of the nation's wealth into the pockets of the wealthy, cuts in spending have to happen first. That's been the rationale for going ahead with the repeal of the Affordable Care Act first. Cut spending on the general welfare so that more money can be made available for the wealthy. President Trump himself acknowledged understanding that tax cuts couldn't happen without the spending cuts of the AHCA. He was probably heavily coached on that point when he made that statement, but it clearly didn't take in his mind if Trump thinks that he can move on to tax reform absent the massive spending cuts the AHCA would make possible.
Also, if this half-assed "effort" is what passes for Trump leaving everything on the field, he's lazier than even I thought.
