What need we fear who knows it, when none can call our power to account?Yet who would have thought the old man to have had so much blood in him.

(21,563 posts)The only reason the GOP keeps this corrupt treasonous stooge around is so the doofus can rubber stamp their agenda. Now that the
"great closer", with total control of Congress, has pulled off one of the all time greatest bed wettings in the history of this country, why in the world do they need to keep him around? This was something EVERY rethug agreed on, that Obamacare was the most heinous piece of legislation EVER passed, and 45 still could not rally the troops to get it through the House. His presidency is pointless and pathetic. The GOP only harms their own ability to run the country by keeping him around.
And no one eats their own like the GOP.

(54,770 posts)nor will they enforce mandates. The ACA will die, but only because GOPers and Trump want it to. They will get what the wanted all along and be able to convince ignorant white wingers that it was the Democrats fault. We have to win at least the House in 2018.

(7,812 posts)repeal/replace...there is no thoughtful, effective plan for education, tax reform, immigration, deregulation, inequality, infrastructure, etc. The underlying policies, philosophy, and intent re their platform are BS. No foundation. No fundamental positive goals except tax cuts for the rich and concentration of power and wealth. Same as their 7 year effort re ACA. Hollow.
They could very well run into similar problems with any major legislative effort. They really can't govern. At least, people have to be wondering that they are all hat and no cattle.
Without the fundamental premise of proposing legislation that actually does GOOD THINGS FOR PEOPLE, they will be adrift.
