Want to know why that Meeting with Merkel and Trump was frosty...?

http://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/germany-dismisses-white-houses-intimidating-300bn-bill-for-defence-dl7dk629k

Donald Trump handed the German chancellor Angela Merkel a bill — thought to be for more than £300bn — for money her country “owed” Nato for defending it when they met last weekend, German government sources have revealed.

The bill — handed over during private talks in Washington — was described as “outrageous” by one German minister.

“The concept behind putting out such demands is to intimidate the other side, but the chancellor took it calmly and will not respond to such provocations,” the minister said.

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/11/04/when-donald-trump-was-more-anti-nato-than-vladimir-putin.html

Michael Morrell, a former acting director of the Central Intelligence Agency, broke dramatically with the protocol of most ex-spies when he used spook parlance to describe Republican nominee Donald Trump as “an unwitting agent of the Russian Federation,” albeit in the course of endorsing Hillary Clinton for president.

The colloquial term for the sort of person Morrell was talking about is “useful idiot,” someone enlisted in the Kremlin’s cause through sympathy, or shared interests, or, indeed, ignorance, without actually intending to be a pawn. But, as Putin certainly knows, the problem with useful idiots is that they tend to be insecure and erratic, whereas witting agents are tutored in how to be disciplined and self-controlled.

Trump is too illogical and self-contradictory to be of much use to a hostile foreign power except as a naturally occurring battering ram against the very institutions and beliefs that power would like to see weakened or destroyed. Trump’s opponent (whom Putin assuredly does not want to see inhabit the White House) and U.S. democracy at large are the truer objects of a Russian state-run information and cyber-espionage program. That Trump’s vulgar and demoralizing campaign is ripping apart America on the path to making it “great again” is simply an added bonus for the former KGB colonel.

http://www.latimes.com/politics/washington/la-na-essential-washington-updates-trump-says-merkel-meeting-was-great-1489845711-htmlstory.html

President Trump on Saturday followed up what he called a "great" meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel by blasting her country for what he said were unpaid bills for NATO defense.

On Twitter, Trump reiterated a point he made at his joint news conference Friday with Merkel that many NATO nations owe money to the alliance and the U.S. because they haven't paid their fair share.

This time, he chastised Germany for not paying enough "for the powerful, and very expensive, defense" NATO and the U.S. provide.

Trump didn't single out Germany for NATO bills as he stood next to Merkel and addressed reporters' questions on Friday at a news conference in which he also doubled down on his unsubstantiated accusations that President Obama had ordered surveillance of him during the 2016 campaign.

"Many nations owe vast sums of money from past years, and it is very unfair to the United States," Trump said. "These nations must pay what they owe."

He then thanked Merkel for Germany's commitment to increase its defense spending.

Merkel said Germany had increased its defense spending by 8% last year and was committed to reaching NATO's goal for each member nation to spend 2% of total economic output on defense by 2024.

If a bill is sent, it should be sent by a govt agency or dept, in the mail or personal delivery to an ambassador, at a later time. It'd be shame if, you know, something was to HAPPEN TO IT, yahknowhatimean?

Tell ya what, you pay dis little marker here, we'll keep ya ... ya know ... protected!

Then you can fuggedaboutit ... you'll have no troubles, none at all

But on the other hand ... if you don't pay up ... well ... who's to say what might happen?

Like I say, it could be a real shame. People could get hurt.

You follow?"
