Republican Rep. Ted Poe has quit the hardline House Freedom Caucus over the groups opposition to an Obamacare replacement plan heralded by President Donald Trump and House Speaker Paul Ryan. Poe was reportedly inclined to vote in favor of the American Health Care Act, before Ryan and Trump pulled it from the floor when they realized they did not have enough votes. Leaving this caucus will allow me to be a more effective Member of Congress and advocate for the people of Texas. It is time to lead, Poe said in a statement. Trump lashed out at the Freedom Caucus on Twitter Sunday morning, accusing them of having saved Planned Parenthood and Obamacare.

Being part of the caucus didn't prevent him from voting yes on trumpcare. He is free to vote on legislation however he pleases.
My guess is he is trying to avoid trump's "revenge"

(5,829 posts)3. Dumpf & rwnjs busy blaming Ryan when FC's deplorable
additions (or, more correctly, subtractions of coverage) made the bill not only a break with anything the blowhard promised on the campaign trail into the exact opposite of anything he promised.
Meanwhile, all that hard work Ryan claimed SCROTUS did was comprised of threatening congressmen & holding rallies about himself to sate his narcissistic needs.
