Popping the Right Wing Voter Enthusiasm Balloon with the "Obstructionism Works Both Ways" Argument.

It's time to demoralize what's left of the Republican FOOT SOLDIERS.

There's no doubt that half the air has been sucked out of the Right Wing Crazy Balloon with the Supreme Court's decision that "Obamacare" IS, in fact, CONSTITUTIONAL. Watching the GOP talking heads over the last few days, I've noticed the distinct lack of energy, like they'd all just been drenched in a freezing rainstorm of reality.

It's time to PRESS THE ADVANTAGE and suck the other half of the helium out of this balloon before it CATCHES HOLD!

Right Wing voter enthusiasm over the last three years has been generated by three things:

1. The idea that Obama is a USERPER who isn't eligible to be President.

2. Obama is a CONSTITUTION DESTROYER with his unconstitutional "Obamacare" law. This law will (eventually) be struck down by the Supreme Court, so it's critical to defeat Obama so that he can't appoint any more "liberals" (aka 'non-extremists') to the Supreme Court, and

3. Obama must be defeated so that a Republican Majority (and President) can REPEAL "Obamacare."

Well, TWO of those three sources of voter energy have just been SAPPED. Obama produced the (long form) birth certificate. Only the hard core, tinfoil hat crackpots (aka 1/2 the Republican base) believe the Birther argument now. Nobody with two neurons to rub together believes the Birther nonsense anymore.

And now, the Supreme Court has ruled "Obamacare IS Constitutional." And it wasn't just "Swing Vote Kennedy" who said so. It was hard-core conservative John Roberts who said so. Don't underestimate the psychological significance of this! It proves that the Constitutionality of the ACA is not just an "activist liberal judge opinion" that can be reversed by appointing MORE conservatives to the Supreme Court. Roberts' ruling proves that at least SOME conservatives think ACA is Constitutional, and thus appointing MORE conservatives to the supreme court won't help!

So now, Obama can no longer be (seriously) attacked as a CONSTITUTION DESTROYER. He can only be attacked as a "tax and spend liberal," and frankly that Republican argument is getting very stale. The CONSTITUTION DESTROYER argument derived much of its energy from its NOVELTY. No more... He's now just a 'tax and spend liberal,' and independent voters know that that's what ALL Republicans call ALL Democrats, whether true or not. Heck, they even call EACH OTHER that. IT'S MEANINGLESS.

Well, now it's time to suck the energy out of the last source of Republican voter enthusiasm. The idea that Obamacare can be REPEALED. Sorry guys, IT CAN'T. The last four years were very educational for the Democratic Party. They WATCHED as a Republican minority blocked and filibustered EVERY SINGLE DEMOCRATIC BILL that came to the floor...and LEARNED. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Even if Republicans get a majority in both chambers of Congress, Democrats in the Senate will simply FILIBUSTER any attempt to repeal the ACA.

Having Mitt Romney in the White House, and even as many as 59 Republicans in the Senate WILL NOT HELP YOU. So, if you think you can repeal this by going out and electing a massive Republican majority and a new President, DON'T BOTHER!

The GOP knows they're vulnerable on this point, which is why the new Republican talking point is already out:
"We don't NEED 60 votes in the Senate to repeal Obamacare. It was PASSED through 50% Budget Reconciliation, so it can be REPEALED through Budget Reconciliation."

That's the new talking point to keep the troops from getting too demoralized. In the last day or two I've seen Eric Cantor, Paul Ryan and Britt Hume using it. Check this out...

Sorry guys, but that's not true, and we have to call them out on it. When the original ACA bill passed the Senate it DID get 60 votes! The second time around it didn't, and parliamentary loopholes had to be used to pass it.

So, here's your mission: SPREAD THE WORD, and COUNTERACT the talking point that the ACA was passed through Budget Reconciliation, and can thus be repealed the same way. IT WASN'T, and it CAN'T BE. Therefore, if you think you can repeal this by electing a massive GOP majority and putting Mitt in the White House, think again. If you get anything less than 60 Republicans in the Senate (an impossibility), you may as well not bother.

If repugs win senate they can change filibuster rule on first day of next congress;this is what Sen Reed should have done with this congress. If dems manage to hold on to senate, will he do it for next senate?

And to answer your question, I don't doubt that McConnell would invoke the 'nuclear Senate option,' and that feeble old milquetoast Harry Reed NEVER will. I mean, Reed is the pathetic wimp who came out after the Debt Ceiling crisis, and the loss of America's Triple-A credit rating, and made that stupid speech about how the Senate is obviously working just fine because nobody got bludgeoned half to death with a metal pointed CANE the way Preston Brooks beat Charles Sumner in 1856. Yeah, that's right, Harry. Let's use that as a benchmark. As long as there is no attempted murder on the Senate floor, things are going just fine.

Harry Reed's one and only definition of unacceptable behavior in the Senate
