A skeptic comes around on the Affordable Care Act . . .Spike:
"I lost my Mother in 1997 because she had no insurance and no access to healthcare. The Public Heathcare system failed, did nothing to help us. For that I will never forgive America. If we had Obama's plan in place back then, my Mother would be here today to vote for him. I am a Proud American, but I am Embarrassed to be an American because we can't take care of our own people."

(102,292 posts)9. Hospital ER's are merely required to treat to stabilize... not to offer ongoing care & treatment...
You may survive the life-threatening incident, but have no where to receive absolutely critical aftercare--particularly a hideous problem for newly diagnosed cancer patients or those who may require multiple surgeries or other ongoing care.
There have been instances when individuals were given fluids for dehydration in the ER and told to go see a dentist for a tooth abscess--only to die from lack of access afterwards.
You are really misinformed if you believe the RW party line that ANYONE can receive care at an ER.
