(82,383 posts)The problem is more the "outrage" at least if McCain were president, it could be indulged in freely (even if McCain were right on some issue). Democratic supporters of Democratic candidates may not be looking for an excuse for outrage every five seconds - that's how this comes about.

(55,981 posts)Let me remind you that this president has extended the Patriot Act and continues the domestic spying that Bush started. Why should we think he wont sign this horrendous piece of legislation?
And no one here is "looking for an excuse for outrage". Being skeptical is part of being a Democrat.

(45,319 posts)here. Many support that which they'd not support if it was another politician, such as holding Rick Warren up as an example of greatness right after he slandered all gay Americans. Some called the righteous anger at that 'poutrage' and the fact is, anyone who was not loudly outraged was wrong to accept that hate speech. The same folks who shouted at Hagee on the McCain campaign welcomed the same sort of hate preacher to their own candidate's campaign. Just as the comic portrays.
I see that lot as cowards and fakes, just so you know. Those who are apathetic in the face of injustice are cowards.

(55,981 posts)undone the terrible assaults on our freedoms perpetrated by the previous administration. It is difficult to see your freedoms being stripped away by your elected representatives. Some react to this with denial saying things like, I saw some words in the bill that assure me. It needs to be crystal clear what this president wants this bill to say.
At some point We The People need to draw the line. To fight back against the dismantling of our Constitution. NDAA is a horrible piece of legislation. At best it is not clear and at worse it institutionalizes the arrest and indefinite detention of American citizens and the end of posse comitatos. Some say dont worry, let the courts clear it up. How sad to admit that legislation is written so badly we immediately need the courts help. And the courts have done a horrible job with the Padillo and Hamdi cases. This president needs to clear this issue up.
Mr. President, do YOU believe Americans should be subject to arrest and indefinate detention at the whim of the president or military?
