Freepers react to Jonathan Krohn abandoning conservatism with little shock

Remember the 13 year old homeschooled boy from Georgia giving that speech at the 2009 CPAC and writing that book "Defining Conservatism"? It's been revealed today that Krohn, who will enter NYU this fall, has changed his political views to the other side. I was expecting Free Republic to go ape sh__ over this news. (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/2901960/posts)

Sadly, most responses sounded indifferent. Sucked how no freepers have claimed George Soros/ACORN/the DNC/MSNBC planted Krohn to make conservatives look bad.

"And of course at 17, those opinions are all well formed. Yeah, right. BTW, whose bright idea was it in the GOP to have a 13 year old giving a speech at a CPAC convention anyways? Pretty dumb if you ask me."

"Sounds like a weak-minded kid without parental guidance, who is easily influenced by whoever he is exposed to. First “Georgia talk radio” and later Jon Leibowitz and Colbert. Pathetic."

"This is why a young man is not a fit person to attend lectures on political science, because he is not versed in the practical business of life from which politics draws its premises and subject-matter."

"I'm sick and tired of all the attention paid to kids' opinions. This one is no different. Conservatives are so desperate for approval, we will elevate some snot-nosed skull-full-of-mush to celebrity status."

Then some freepers turn on their gay-dars:

"Is he a sodomite?" (of course from "Paleo Conservative&quot

"First item was gay “marriage.” Perhaps he`s been convinced he “qualifies.”" (from the same author of the " bunch of words" comment)

Then some predict he will revert:

"Teenage rebellion. When his own kids to it to him he’ll be a conservative again."

"Once this nimrod starts paying property taxes, he should see the wisdom of conservatism."

Finally, for the most fallacious, some poor comparisons:

"Yeah, and I remember that hard-hitting piece that Politico did on brainwashed 13 year-olds in the liberal SF Bay area. Oh, wait. No, I don't. They never did one."

"To: Free ThinkerNY And of course Patrick Gavin of Politico was TOO busy tracking down Jonathan Krohn, instead of searching for all those young women, Obama zombies (Obama stash, and the don't need to pay rent, etc. etc.) in 2008. A simple question put to them “Are you better off 4 years later” would do. If the ‘reporter’ is brave enough, “What did you do with your Obama stash’."

(FR linked to tue politico article about Krohn: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0712/78068.html)

If you've never heard of those "Obama zombie" stories here are the origins:

Basically a TV news interview of this woman in Miami who claimed Obama would pay her gas and mortgage became RW fodder and has been used to paint Obama supporters as shiftless followers.

In 2009, Rush Limbaugh http://mediamatters.org/limbaughwire/2009/10/27" target="_blank">publicized a poor Detroit woman who was interviewed on local TV and said she'd get welfare from "Obama's stash".

Difference? The CPAC organizers CHOSE to lionize Krohn as the great young hope. There is no evidence the women from the examples provided even were INVITED to speak at liberal events like Netroots or Yearly Kos. And where in SF has a 13 year old boy been lionized as much as Krohn?

A plus for home schooling. At least trained him to think critically when he was able to. nt nanabugg Jul 2012 #1

I suspect they had a different tune then, likely by the very same posters.
