Suge Knight Just Killed a Guy on a Movie Set: Report
Source: Gawker
Death Row Records founder Suge Knight ran over a man, possibly killing him, during an argument on a film set where The Game, Ice Cube and Dr. Dre were filming, TMZ reports.
Suge Knight got into a fight on the set of a film project in Compton, and ran over a man and we're told the victim is dead.
We're told a fight broke out between Suge and 2 crew members. Suge got back into his car, took the wheel and threw the vehicle in reverse ... and ran over a bystander.
The website says Knight's claiming he feared for his safety from the crew members due to his "frail health" after he was shot six times this summer. Knight's also facing up to seven years in jail on another pending legal matterhe was arrested with Katt Williams in October for allegedly stealing a paparazzo's camera.

Suge Knight -- Hit and Run in Compton ... Victim Dead
Suge Knight got into a fight on the set of a film project in Compton, and ran over a man ... and we're told the victim is dead ... and Suge fled the scene.
Multiple witnesses tell us some kind of shoot -- possibly for a movie or documentary -- was going down with Game, Ice Cube and Dr. Dre when Suge pulled up in his car.
We're told a fight broke out between Suge and 2 crew members. Suge got back into his car, took the wheel and threw the vehicle in reverse ... and ran over a bystander.
It's unclear at this point if the victim was connected to the film project.

He wasn't looking where he was going, that's for sure. The "fleeing the scene" is a problem, but if the lawyer can play the "He was in fear for his life" card, that may be a factor in mitigation.
If the family of the deceased can be bought off, this could be resolved very quickly.
The rich are different. If the same thing happened, and Mr. Knight wasn't a famous rich guy, but instead a poor minimum wage worker, he'd be going up the river.

One of the characters being portrayed is Suge, and he feels that if his image is going to be represented, he believes he should be compensated for that, one source said. He is bullying and threatening people because he believes anything to do with rap in Los Angeles means you have to pay him.
How Knight has been supporting himself since he sold Death Row Records in 2008 is also unclear. I don't suppose it's been easy for him watching Dre, Ice Cube, Jay Z, P Diddy and Snoop Dogg flourishing financially and personally while he's "just getting by." There's no mention of who's going to play Suge -- what kind of affiliation and compensation does he want? Equity as a front-end investor? Creative control over how he's portrayed? The opportunity to play himself?

Our sources say Carter was in the process of walking to the passenger door of Suge's vehicle, but happened to be in the rear when Suge gunned it.
Two other men were also hit ... including Cle "Bone" Sloan -- who's appeared in "Training Day" and "End of Watch" -- and suffered non-life threatening injuries. Both men are in the hospital.
Suge Knight was lured into a trip to the Compton set that turned fatal, and the mission was to broker a peace accord between Suge and longtime rival Dr. Dre ... this according to sources connected to Suge.
...Suge had gone to another location where the commercial for (the) Straight Outta Compton (movie) was being shot and got into a physical push and shove with Dr. Dre's security. Some off-duty officers saw the altercation and ordered Suge to leave.
Our Suge sources say a short time later Terry Carter called Suge and said he had contacted Dre and was told to bring Suge by the next location where they could work out their problems. Suge says he took Carter up on the offer, believing it would be a peaceful meeting, but when he arrived he got jumped before he even got out of his truck.
As you probably know, Dre and Suge owned Death Row Records but their partnership blew apart and Dre left...(for) Interscope (Records). Suge's people say they can easily prove Terry called Suge but obviously there's only one person now who can recount the conversation.
TMZ broke the story (that) less than an hour before the hit and run, Suge went to another set location but was thrown out by Dre's security. Sources connected with Suge say he got a call from Carter who said he had just spoken with Dre and the Beats mogul said he wanted Suge to return so he could make peace.
Our Dre sources say it never happened, and note it's pretty convenient the only other person who has first-hand knowledge is dead...Dre and his people (don't) want Suge around...because they view Suge as having a big fat target on his back...
Apparently, this movie is being made with Dre's blessings and, probably, financial resources. IS Suge worried about portrayed in a defamatory manner, or does he feel he's entitled to a cut of the movie's financial equity? In his haste to get away from his tormentors, did Suge back over Carter accidentally? Or did he kill Carter in a rage because he felt he'd been betrayed?

(44,577 posts)Knight was driving his truck and was slowing down to meet with longtime friend and business partner Terry Carter when he was assaulted, Blatt said...Between two and four men charged Knights car and beat him through his open drivers window...They beat him. They grabbed him. They indicated that they were trying to get him out of the car to kill him, Blatt said. In self-defense and in an attempt to get away, Knight struck Carter and a second victim, actor Cle Bone Sloan, according to Blatt. His client did not realize he had hit anyone...
(But) Authorities (say) Knight, 49, purposefully ran two people over during an argument...in the parking lot of Tams Burgers...about 3PM...Sheriffs Department homicide Lt. John Corina said Knight was sitting in his Ford F-150 Raptor pickup truck in the restaurants parking lot when he got into a fight with Sloan through the drivers side window. Knight put the vehicle into reverse, knocking Sloan to the ground...Knight allegedly then put the pickup into drive and accelerated into Sloan, hitting him and then Carter, and speeding away...It looks like an intentional act, which would make it a homicide. He used his vehicle as a weapon, Corina said.
The pickup truck was recovered hours later in a Westwood parking lot. Knight had been involved in another altercation, also with Sloan, 20 to 30 minutes before the hit-and-run collisions, Corina said...
Suge was going to Tam's to meet Carter, and Sloan, who he'd fought with earlier, happened to be there? Did Suge travel to Tam's with Carter? Did Suge follow Sloan there?

(29,322 posts)I'm not sure from reports if he hit him but he tried it again, I don't know if he hit the bystander twice or the second time but from what I hear the reason they're charging him with murder is he tried to murder or voluntary manslaughter Sloane but killed someone else instead.
Just what I gather from a brief news report I heard since posting. The whole thing is very strange. From the reports there were 2 fights. One on set, the second at a Burger King parking lot where the homicide took place.

that presumably shows a portion of the hit and run or the entire thing...
The recorder from the Tam's parking lot where the victim was struck and killed was not operating and the surround(ing) businesses tell us they didn't capture it either.
The Sheriff's Dept. won't say what's on the video. Homicide detectives are analyzing it. (link)

Knight was initially held on $2.025 million bail...On Monday morning, homicide detectives petitioned that bail be revoked, and that request was approved by the bail commissioner...Bail was revoked because Knight was considered a flight risk and a three-strikes candidate...Authorities were also concerned about witness intimidation and Knights criminal past...
Which I consider a moot point: if Suge had the money to make bail or bond out, he would have used it by now...

Later in the session, Knight was transported to a hospital after saying he was having chest pains...
Outside the courthouse, Knight's attorney David Kenner told reporters..."It's too early to tell, but clearly from what I understand, he was being attacked and trying to get away from that attack, no more than that..."
The man who died was Terry Carter, 55, a former rap record label owner. The second man is Cle "Bone" Sloan, 51. Knight felt remorseful about the death and the injury in the incident, Kenner said...Carter and Knight were friends..."They've known each other for a long time," the attorney...added...
Sloan's attorney, Michael Shapiro, said Tuesday that his client is in shock and has suffered a serious concussion and might not be able to walk again...(He) dismissed (Knight's) version of events...(as) "absurd..."
Hope he likes prison hospital food...

(WARNING: Graphic)You see Suge pull up and he is almost instantly confronted by Cle "Bone" Sloan, who did security for the film. You clearly see Bone attacking Suge through the driver's window, when Suge suddenly throws the truck in reverse, clipping Bone with the side view mirror and knocking him down.
You also see Terry Carter -- the man who ended up run over and dead -- standing near Bone. Terry moves into the parking lot when Suge guns it again, hitting Bone a second time and mowing Terry down, mortally wounding him.
Suge claims he was not trying to run either man over but instead was trying to escape out of fear he would be killed. Suge's lawyer claims Bone and Terry both had guns. Check out the video. As Bone lays on the ground you clearly see another man walk up, remove something from Bone and put it in his waistband.
Maybe the men in the lot were armed -- but no one appears to be brandishing a gun. More to the point, since Suge had time to decide to straighten his front wheels in order to drive back into the lot after he backed up, he also had time to decide to turn his front wheels to the left in order to drive to the nearest police station after he backed up. Had he done the latter, Suge would have had a legitimate claim of self-defense.

(44,577 posts)(H)e suffered two fractured ankles, a serious cut to his head, two torn ligaments in his knees and a shoulder injury. "Every day, I try to forget it...I just know, I screwed up, and Terry's dead." Sloan's faltering memory on the witness stand was contrasted by a lucid account of the events that led to his injuries with detectives on Jan. 29. In an hour-long recorded interview, Sloan quickly recalled details and told detectives how he attacked Knight twice in the burger stand parking lot. He told detectives that Knight told him he was going to kill him after he Sloan landed a blow, and said he responded, "Not today." He told detectives he wanted justice and would testify, but that he didn't want to "be the guy who says (Knight) killed Terry," according to audio of the interviewed played in court...
The former gang member turned film consultant planned to invoke his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination during part of his testimony, but a prosecutor granted him limited immunity. Afterward, Sloan said he still did not remember what occurred before his confrontation with Knight.
LOL -- it's not "snitching" when you're the victim AND they have the whole thing on film, dude!

He had been charged with murder, attempted murder and hit-and-run as a result of a dispute on the set of a trailer for the popular N.W.A biopic, which included a depiction of Mr. Knight. The authorities said Mr. Knight killed Terry Carter, 55, a Compton, Calif., businessman, and injured a security consultant, Cle Sloan, when he ran over both at a local burger stand. His lawyers said at the time that he was fleeing and had acted in self-defense...
Mr. Knight served nearly five years in jail for violating the terms of his probation after a 1996 fight at a Las Vegas hotel. Hours after the altercation, (Tupac) Shakur was fatally shot while riding in Mr. Knights car. Mr. Knight also has convictions for armed robbery and assault with a gun; in 1995, he pleaded no contest and was sentenced to five years probation for assaulting two rappers at a studio in 1992...
(He) went through 15 attorneys...(H)is fiancée was jailed for violating probation after she was accused of selling surveillance footage of the hit and run to TMZ for $55,000...
No trial? Oh, buzzkill! But seriously, folks, between the video evidence and Suge's legal track record, a sentence of life minus parole on the murder charge was pretty much guaranteed. Or maybe, after four years of incarceration and 15 lawyers, Suge just ran out of legal fee money...anyway, cue the guy with the Dragnet hammer!
