that city governments -- cities already struggling to pay for street repairs,
schools, affordable housing, etc. -- are being routinely saddled with paying for
huge amounts of tax dollars to cover the tracks of sadistic antics of Police
Bullies and Killer-cops, who routinely abuse unarmed innocent civilians.

It really is an incredible DIS-service to the entire community for cops to
presume that the public will pick up the tab for their criminal behavior.

of the police force. Or their personal bank accounts. If a cop knew he could lose everything, he wouldn't be so quick to pull the trigger.

it doesn't fix any problems, and probably creates a few.

In another article on DU, we learn NYC settled for $5 million with the family of another person gunned down by the cops for no reason.

This is getting expensive. Someone needs to alert the NYC taxpayers to how much their cops are costing them.

Taxes must be sky high to allow the cops to keep killing innocent people.

But this whole thing of the taxpayer funding police brutality via millions in settlements taken out of municipal coffers, makes me sick. Add to this overzealous DAs who go along with corrupt cops, resulting in more settlements for false arrests, false reports, etc. (discovered once the cases hit the court system) makes it even more despicable.
